I know people who have directly, and admittedly, become doctors for exactly this reason. And in a way, at least they're being honest when admitting to it. Worse, for me, is a story I heard from a junior doctor recently (in the UK) who, when asked what they wanted to be (while doing the 7 yr medical training needed in the UK) replied "Secretary of state for Health". That's the expectation private schooling breeds in my country. And, frankly, I wouldn't want that person to be my doctor.

But to not expect high remuneration to be high up there on the desires of any doctors list...you're only fooling yourself.
 
I dunno man, my cousin is a doctor and he loves his job. All he ever wanted to do was follow in my grandfather's footsteps and help save human lives; but I understand that not everyone can have a soul.

I mean I realize it's a lot of work to become a doctor, but when I go to get my teeth checked up at the dentist, and I see his fucking Porsche parked outside, a little bit of me says, "I should find a new dentist."

Your cousin has humanity, your dentist a Porsche. No worries, I know which one I prefer. Had some trouble with a front tooth recently. Dentist offered me treatment of either £170 or £2500. I'm not even making this up. This was an NHS dentist in the UK. I changed dentists. Did nothing. Cost £13 for the one referral. I'm not buying his Porsche for him. Everything is fine now ( a year on). Fucker.
 
Just because someone became a doctor for money doesn't mean they can't be good at what they do, in fact the only way to be a well paid doctor is to be a good doctor. The highest paid surgeons are the ones with best success rate, I don't care what motivates him as long as I get off the operating table alive and fixed. I'd rather be treated by a guy who's in for the money but it's best at what he does rather than a big hearted one who's mediocre.

This is really a good point. It's difficult to know how well it works in reality, I think in the end we use our own judgment and hope for the best.

In your field of expertise does money paid always get the best results? It really doesn't in mine but I work with food. Having been a well trained and observant worker in many high end kitchens, you may not get what you paid for. Building an image and fleecing customers is common in a lot of fields, study and do research yourself if your choice of doctor seems important take time to look below professional veneers.

Money might get the best person for the job but it doesn't motivate that person to do a great job once they have it.

But you don't want your money to be a one off, you want it again and again and more. So you'll strive to do well because it continues to get you the money you want. Once you start slacking or screwing up the money you get will either stop or you'll get less of it. Best paid plastic surgeon is the one who does the best job.

As an electrical engineer I want to say that yes money does get you the best results, but not in every area. For example consumer electronics are one where most expensive things are not necessarily the best in terms of performance / specification (for example ridiculously expensive mac book pro with only one USB port which is also a charging port). But there's professional electronics where money does indeed means quality.

Farage is a cunt. Go to the Trump thread. The one where you have Wooderson wishing he could play GTA on real life people. The one where What23, after complaining he doesn't get a fair hearing goes on to wish he could put Consumer in a gas chamber.

Who are the fascists? And why does this board tolerate someone wishing they could put a respected member in 'the gas chambers'? I see no temporary ban. Apart from on Droppers. What did he do? Tie his shoelaces wrong?

As for woodersons coments if people are going to stand in the road they got to be prepared for some nutter to run them over.

I think we need trump in US farage in UK and le penn in France and see how things go from there.

In the Trump thread, Wooderson calls for the murder ('live GTA playing') of protestors...you know, those people given such rights by the American Constitution. And in that thread What23 calls for Consumer to be put to the gas chambers "if I had my way".

Do you know who is famous for using gas chambers against innocent people? Do you know what fascism is?
 
Ive read the trump thread, you know I have because you've read my posts on there.
People can protest all they want but still if you stand in the road it would be best to watch out for cars. Idiots.
