Oh my god, get over yourself. You should be honored to be lumped in with the liberals, as am I.

The republicans fail on all the issues. Perhaps a few decades ago the Libertarians and Republicans had great similarities on the budget, etc. Not anymore.

First of all, don't tell me how I should feel. Second, there is a vast difference between a liberal and a leftist. You should know that before speaking on such things. I hold many socially liberal views and have respect for (informed) liberals. Finally, conservative and libertarian are political ideologies, "republican" is a political party affiliation. I can understand why you assumed that, but that's what you did. I never said my political affiliation.

Maybe you should put down the smack and go read a book. And no judgment with the smack comment, I was on H for a decade.

Perhaps a few decades ago the Libertarians and Republicans had great similarities on the budget, etc. Not anymore.

In effect, the Republicans and Libertarians act the same on budget matters.

Libertarians believe in a smaller Federal government and thus want less funding.

Republicans believe that government doesn't work, and they are willing to underfund programs that do work in order to break them.

Both have the same result.

But in all seriousness it's a lazy "criticism" of capitalism's critics. It says nothing of the actual criticism itself (and ignores the fact that left-wing people like Marx/Engels praised certain aspects of capitalist development), instead alluding to some kind of hypocrisy on the part of capital's critics. Capitalism is an all encompasing world socio-economic system & social relationship, the left has to live within it like everyone else...

It reminds me of right-wing libertarians getting criticized for driving on government-funded roadways

There is something to be said however for a slightly different argument. Not that you've used a computer obtained in a capitalist society to promote communism and are thus a hypocrite. I agree that argument is flawed to the point of failure.

But instead the argument that the computer, the internet, much of our technology is innovation driven by competition promoted by a capitalist system.

Not a perfect or ideal argument either, but better and with at least some truth to it.

Everything has it's merits, hell I could kill you and argue that I just reduced the worlds carbon emissions, merit doesn't necessarily mean good or moral.
