Leftist Discussion Thread

Tathra do you know Ryan's friends or are you just trolling to get a responce?

Crew and mods shouldn't really be trolling swilow.
Crew and mods are quick to call people out for trolling but are ok doing it themselves.

I'm not lookin after anyone consumer, just pointing out some of the bullshit double standards.

You ok consumer? You haven't called anyone a fascsit for about ten minutes, you feeling ok?

Crew and mods have to follow the same rules as everyone else. There are no rules that only apply to staff and former staff, however we do have to keep in mind that we represent bluelight and lead by example in everything we do, and should always strive to set a good example.

And i have no problem with setting the example that its alright to do a little bit of trolling for laughs every now and then. Only occasionally though, not so much that its excessive or problematic or the only thing posted.

So It's ok to troll on BL as long as it's funny.
Bit of a minefield that is, considering what one finds funny another finds offensive.
Anyway, going off topic now.

Thread has never been on topic. But its been interesting, we all evidently have a lot to say

Its okay to kid each other. We aren't going to solve the worlds problems here and I quite like and enjoy talking with the various folks here, having a joke doesn't hurt anyone. For example, nothing Ryan says should ever be taken seriously imo. Did you see him call himself handsome? :D ;) (need I say I'm joking? Yes)

I actually like how topics evolve here, I read more than post and its entertaining if you consider utter futility entertaining.

Okay, lets try.

Do we have any avowed communists here? I think spacejunk is but who else? Do we really have more fascists?

I'm reading the Communist Manifesto in page sized bites. Why doesn't Engles get the praise/hate that Marx does? I know very little about the history of the publication though.

Trudeau didn't win because of legal Cannabis or because women may think he's cute. While i hate the Upper class cunt born with a silver spoon shoved up his arse he won because Canada rejected the too far Right wing version of Conservatism Harper and his bum buddies followed. I thought hard of voting for Trudeau as i hate his father (Daddy War Measures act himself) and don't care much for any of that rather well off family but compared to Harper he was the far lesser of 2 evils. Hell Harper couldn't even buy a vote in this province in the last 2 elections because his brand of western Canadian Conservatism that comes out of that godawful University in Calgary is hated on the east coast.

Canada certainly has it's problems and there's no reason why we can't take immigrants from the US or people forced to come here because they can't go to the US now. There are lot's of Syrians and other people fleeing war zones in this province and personally i say the more the merrier.

Fixing the Welfare system and the 3rd world conditions that Aboriginals in Canada live in all too often is a whole other issue. It can hardly be solved in a year or anything.

This is really on track Paranoid. Trudeau is not his father, people seem to forget how horrible Justin's view of life has been, because they can't forget his father's large personality. Justin grew up as a child with a mother that skipped out to live with a rock star. His family shame is historically huge. His brothers death, the rolling stones not being allowed in Canada til after his father's death, this man's life has not been easy. Now becoming a public figure is an act requiring fortitude. If he fails to deliver and we return to politics as usual or he succeeds is still a guess.

In many ways he is a Canadian vote away from politics as usual. Personally I didn't vote for him but I have only ever voted for the reform party when it was under Preston Manning. I may have drunk voted rhino a couple times but otherwise I always saw voting as a waste of valuable tv viewing or drinking time. There has never been a politician offering anything worth crossing the street for, in a believable way.

Has anything changed? I don't think anything beyond a sense of hope among the younger generation. Capitalism has left our future in taters, those of us with even basic math skills can see the end looming. The population is beginning to vote emotionally looking for heros instead of replacement politicians. I've decided to be more positive about this government. I don't think they have a plan but they seem to be listening, I've involved myself as directly as I am able in the cannabis legalization currently going on. My emails are getting answers and for the first time in dealing with government I'm not frustrated by beaurocracy to the point of abandoning my efforts.

Justin may be Canada's "Not Hilary" choice. The largest difference I see is he actually inspired people to come vote for him, not make people hate his opponent and not vote for them.

I'd be a communist but I'm not sure communism is actually possible on a large scale due to human corruption and selfishness, so i have up settle for being a socialist since that only really exists in small-scale. Decentralized economic power and much fairer pay for one's labor would solve a lot of problems and make regulatory capture much less likely or even impossible.
