Late Night Intros Dude! Calculus,Adderall insomnia & Ambien's keepin me up...wft?!

Hate to join in at 2:31 AM when all I want atm is some sleep... but what the hell, right? Been trollin these pages and finally decided to join. And since I'm here, I'll hit ya up with a few questions to see what the general consensus is. I am prescribed Adderall XR 25 mg, Xanax 1 mg, and Ambien 5 mg. The ambien I just brought home tonight cuz I've had wicked insomnia for the past several weeks. So I take it and end up on a wicked (although not unpleasant) ride.... instead of sleeping. Kinda..weird, floaty, fuzzy, similiar to a very mild, very chilled ecstasy with a side o'shrooms... with a bit of drunk thrown in for good measure, capped off with a little euphoric energy even. it wasn't super intense or anything - just a unique side effect - difficult to describe

Only here's the deal.....-still not asleep - at all. Took it 4 hours ago.

So I try again:
2:00 am (still awake) - take another 5 mg Ambien and decide to bring my questions here to the experts.

Interesting potential recreationally, but tonight I took it because I needed to shake off the Adderall insomnia and get some sleep.... What the hell happened dude?

This place has always been a wealth of info - really cool to have a place to talk about these kinds of things without getting tossed out - very cool dudes and dudettes u guys seem to be.

Soooo... it's now 2:16 am, still not asleep, and about to hit my Hello All post out.

Just taking a quick look around it looks like if you don't work with the ambien and try and catch some zzzzzs while on it you can stay awake and experience some of the effects you're experiencing. Have you just been sitting at your computer waiting for it to knock you out?

Yeah usually do. I've tried taking it and heading straight to bed but that's never really worked for me my whole life. My mind simply won't shut up so I've gone to bed with the tv on or something for probably 25 years. Bad sleeper overall really - bouts of insomnia, too much goin on upstairs, can't take benedryl, pain pills, or alcohol cuz they keep me up, and I have a funky disorder called Sleep Paralysis - freaky terrifying stuff that one. Usually I just deal but lately work, calculus, physics, and a sick kid (and I mean my green tree python Minerva), ... The whole I-don't-sleep-half-a-night thing has hit my breaking point and I had to throw out the big AH HE-EELL NO! So while I'm all about the recreation, sometimes ya just need a bit o sleep. So any suggestions would be MOST appreciated. ... And if recreational effects come with the package - well I guess I can suffer through it lol.

I hope someone who is familiar with your current medication regiment can shed some light on your mind-boggling insomnia while on Ambien.
