It can cause steven johnson syndrome or other life threatening skin diseases. I took my first dose last night which was half of a 25mg pill but i do NOT want to take this stuff after reading up on it and looking at pictures of these diseases.

Can i stop? Or do I have to continue it in order to avoid getting this disease? I've tried calling my doctor but he's on holidays and i don't see my psych for 5 weeks.

I'm really paranoid of this stuff. Doesn't seem worth taking if i can end up with steven johnson disease. This medication seems ridiculous and even has a black box warning label. Yes i'm bi-polar but i'm sure there are other methods of treating it that don't involve taking this shit.

i'm worried that since i took my first dose last night i can't stop abruptly like this. what a stupid fucking medication. I can't smoke weed to treat it but they give me this shit! This is fucking stupid!

Stephens-Johnson is an exceedingly rare reaction, and you're being monitored under the care of a physician. You should be fine.

i'd rather just not take all these stupid pharmaceutical drugs. its such fucking bullshit. weed cured 90% of all my depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders and now the court is forcing me to stop. so now i'm on 5 different meds. This whole legal system is fucking bullshit. I just want my weed back

it's almost bed time. and ive only taken one dose. can i stop?

i really dont wanna be on this shit and i read if you stop abruptly bad side effects happen, however i've only done one dose.

can i not take it tonight and throw these in the trash?

If you have a rash, you have more than enough time to stop taking it. The rash doesn't appear and progress into life threatening rapidly.

It gave me a rash on my chest and I quit taking it.

Apparently something like 90% of people if re-trialed on it a year after having a rash the first time will display no adverse effects. It's a wonderful drug actually if you don't have a rash.

Sounds like you want the "good" stuff and not stuff that might actually help you. I fought for years against taking my anti-depressant (Cymbalta) and mood stabilizer (which is Lamictal by the way).

I came to the realization that in order for me to be a "quality" member of society that I must take them.

Even ibuprofen can cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome -- SJS is sort of like an extreme allergic reaction; it can be brought on by a huge number of drugs and other factors, and it might as well strike at random.

If there's one thing that you should definitely avoid in my opinion it's benzodiazepines, absolutely awful things and somehow their extreme addictive potential doesn't seem to faze the doctors who prescribe them...

Ive been on lamotrigine since 2007 and the only side effect Ive gotten from it at all is a much more stable mood. It's alot easier to take and less hassle then other mood stabilizers/anti-manic drugs like lithium (blood tests galore) or valproate (loads of blood tests and hard on the liver) so yeah i think it's not only a effective med but also one with very few side effects.

Has anyone taken this in combination with olanzapine for bipolar I?

Ive taken it in combination with olanzapine for bipolar NOS though i could be diagnosed as bipolar 1. It works well with a anti-psychotic such as olanzapine because that way the anti-psychotic controls any mania the lamotrigine doesn't control.
