this is a word that everyone hates to hear. but it has to be brought up! I would be guessing that this would fit a little better in the S&G thread rather then the S&T thread.

I've been into PC games here lately (counterstrike,TFC). and soon Garry's Mod. ;)

There will be times when I'll be playing in a game where my ping will spike, since i'm running on wireless my ping is usually in the 60's, I've had it be as low as the 30's before. (on wireless).

Here lately when I get spiked, my ping will shoot up between 300-600. and my real-time 'mode' will start skipping. and will catch up for the lost time. Everything will freeze (when the ping hits 600), and drop back to 60, and in that time it froze the game still is going on. so if your in a ww3 battle zone dodging grenades, and enemy fire and the shit spikes.. your pretty much fucked.

So do you have any experience in fixing lag problems when they come up?

Is the WiFi secure? is anyone else on it while you're playing? are you downloading anything while you play or have your AV set to automatically pull and install updates??

yeah the wifi is secure. i'm not sure who all uses the same wifi, would it really matter?
i have firefox running, norton antivirus(which i cannot remove), windows media player, bit torrent, and 2 folders open.
yeah something keeps poping up wanting to restart my computer. i've been ignoring that, i think it's norton..
my system does automatic updates.

dont run a bt client while playing online games. thats prolly your worst problem. and if anyone else is using the wifi connection its going to slow you down too.
