Lack of euphoria and optimism on LSD

Hey guys,

So yesterday me and a couple of friends decided to take shrooms and acid to enjoy our Friday night. We had all taken acid before but that was our first experience with shrooms.
We took a small dose of shrooms (1g each dry) and then went to a park nearby, that was a great experience, one of the best I have ever had in my life.
I felt so happy and optimistic whilst I was there, everything just seemed to be going as planned. All nature's colours were so beautiful and intense.
It resembled a MDMA trip even though to a lesser extent.

We headed back to my friend's room and then dropped a tab of some fairly reliable acid.
However after the acid started to hit me and shrooms wore off all that happiness and optimistic feeling was gone.
It was not a bad trip though, it was very interesting but I was enjoying myself more on shrooms before.

I just would like to know what could have happened to me yesterday because I read online that normally the opposite happens: shrooms give a more mental introspective high whilst LSD gives a more extrovert euphoric high.
Could it be the doses? (I would say I took a small dose of shrooms and a common dose of LSD)
Has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this before?

Thanks a lot!
Peace

No doubt. Next time try acid as the first drug of the day and see what you think. Though I like shrooms better myself, after tripping on them, I'm normally not up for much other than a snack and maybe a bit of something calming. Though I'm an old wuss.

"Euphoria" is not a word I associate with LSD, and I took it at least a 100 times in the '90s. More like "anxiety."

To me shrooms and LSD have opposite energies. I would not want to take them even remotely close to one another.

Wouldn't the shrooms you took give you tolerance for the acid?

There is no hard and fast and rule. For me shrooms are fairly consistent, acid is unpredictable. But I have heard people say the total opposite. You wont get to see the differences of each if you combine them though. Both substances are great on their own. The few times i did both i didn't feel i was getting extra, more like i was missing out on some of the more subtle effects.
Now DMT while peaking is a whole different thing.

The comedown from psychedelics makes you mellow and tired, which I've found is a complete deterrent for happy feelings.
If I blaze hard all day and I'm burnt when I drop its usually a very sub par trip and even effects the intensity of the visuals

As well you would have a slight tolerance to LSD after the mushrooms, and tolerance plays a major role in the euphoria from psychedelics.
If you ever try dropping LSD without waiting a weekend it takes away alot from the trip I find, even if you double the dose

You'd have major tolerance, given how quickly tolerance is built by tryptamines.

Set and setting is everything, and your set was a long way from optimum. Lesson learnt I hope.

LSD doesn't really give you euphoria as much of a sense of pure amazement and awe. You really have to bring this out of the drug, as it is really just a psychadelic mood enhancer.

Absolutely this.
So many people have an amazing trip and expect this to happen everytime.
They think if they are sad or tired or just in a shitty mood in general that LSD will reverse that and give them an amazing trip.
It's effects are dependent on your mood, sure some times you can have an amazing trip when you're not in a good mood but his is likely not the case

Regarding a lot of properties of mushrooms vs. LSD, it seems that people can get opposite reactions or preferences with these drugs. I'd theorise that one of the factors can be whether a person is introverted or extraverted him/herself, corresponding with a certain adaptability. IMO mushrooms tend to produce more emotional instability and visionary reverie while LSD produces more rational/intellectual complexity with possibly being somewhat emotionally removed. I think those are different forms of dissociation and it is very typical for a person to get specific preferences regarding those effects which are in ways polarized.

Remember though: you may find that mushrooms don't reliably make you euphoric, under the wrong circumstances you could feel plenty of dysphoria, fear and terror. And it is perfectly possible to feel happy and optimistic on LSD, but I would agree that mushrooms and pure psilocin can take the cake regarding MDMA-like euphoria.

LSD and mushrooms are cross-tolerant and cause a large tolerance buildup within hours after dosing. Unfortunately it sounds like you just wasted a tab of acid. :/

While that is true, a medium dose of LSD could still modulate the quality of a low dose mushroom trip, and extend it if not amplify.
This is not a case of 'must be placebo'.

For me, combining psychedelics is a no-no. I once mixed a small dose of San Pedro cactus with shrooms and had a TERRIBLE time. Too much conflicting mental effects going on.

MDMA + psychedelics > psychedelics + psychedelics IMO.
