i wonder from your experience whats the best med's, or med's that helped you, for controlling labile hypertension
or Paroxysmal hypertension(spikes of blood pressure).
thanks

I worked in Nephrology for a few years, so trust me when I say, I understand BP fully. A majority of my old patients had kidney issues, which resulted in their BP spikes.

A few questions...do you have white coat syndrome? Are they using the right size cuff when taking your BP? Do you keep a BP log to understand what triggers your spikes, or what times of day it's highest?
Do you use drugs, such as opiates/benzos? Have any existing health conditions?

It's hard to say what will work for you, not knowing your health history.

Norvasc/Hydrochlorothiazide combos work well with those who have nephrology issues.

Listinopril is also a more common drug for HBP.

Until you can figure out your triggers, it's really hard to say.

i have white coat syndrome but it also happen not in stress situation.
yes they using the right cuff and i have monitor at home and using right cuff
i still don't know what trigger it cause its not only anxiety, it can happen also no reason. thats why it call labile hypertenson.
no drugs use. i tried blood pressure meds that didnt worked:beta blockers mainly.

Oo well, I can tell you that beta blockers can raise enzymes in the kidneys, causing BP spikes. People don't realize the role your kidneys play in your BP.

Can you list a few of your readings? Also, what time of day are you taking your BP? Some of the cuffs, no matter how good they are, can give you inaccurate readings. A good old fashion cuff works better because of the fitting over your artery.

There are many reasons why we experience spikes and decreases. It's hard to diagnose someone over the internet, you know?

If the beta blockers aren't effective, talk with your doctor. Have they suggested a low-sodium diet?
