I am currently tapering from benzos, im down to 2 mg valium. I understand this is a low dose. I had been using l-theanine but got anxious (more than usual at least..) when I saw that it said it increased GABA levels in the brain. DOes this mean it could slow down my recovery from benzo withdrawal? And ive been taking it daily, will it cause rebound withdrawal if i stop? I don't wanna make anything worse but it is helping a little and i figured something that is in green tea cant mess things up too bad.. I also have relax-all with phenibut but have been scared to take it cause ive heard bad things abotu valerian during withdrawal, and also heard that magnolia bark works on gaba-a which is what im trying to get to heal... also heard phenibut has rebound anxiety.. thanks

i have taken l-theanine, it really isnt very strong, it is somewhat relaxing, but nothing like a benzo. i doubt it would cause further significant withdrawl, i felt no withdrawl from l theanine. l theanine isnt really a "true" drug, its just an amino acid...

I think your anxiety is getting the better of you mate :)

L-Theanine, Valerian and Magnolia's extracted compounds (Magnolol and Honokiol) are rather weak and using them as you are won't have any detrimental effect on your tapering and abstainence ;)

Phenibut acts on GABA-b receptors and not GABA-a, so it will help but won't make things harder for you I doubt. If you are really that worried then just take it every now and again :)

Other than this you'll be alright. Oh, and p.s. Well done on getting down to 2mg man :)
Also - Soon, you might even be able to take your dose of Diazepam once every 2 days seeing as the half-life of it and it's main metabolite (Nordazepam) are extremely long ^_^

ok guys thank you.. it was helpful. and yea im glad im down to 2... almost off. Lyrica is helping somewhat and ive been told i can still recover on it cause it doesnt act on gaba-a. and yea i slept one hour last night :/ today will be fun... for all those withdrawing from benzos I suggest you give acupuncture a try.
