heavy opiate user dilaudid IV 20-30 mg daily trying to get info on kratom for WD so I can get off this nightmare....wanting info on good suppliers and people that have my opioid dependency level to advise on amounts to get thru WD's

I am not one to give medical advice. I can say that I have seen numerous people get through opiate withdrawal and dependency utilizing many forms of similar and, sometimes perplexing, modalities. Kratom will help to a degree depending on numerous variables. There are a few decent natural nutrient-based opiate relief systems. With kratom you cannot overdose so one might suggest to test out the kratom dose while tapering off the dilaudid if possible. I do know of reliable suppliers of kratom, should you be interested.

Obviously, you need to take enough kratom to achieve analgesic effects; dependent on the strength and strain, this could involve using quite a lot of kratom to get the opiate action you need. I suggest buying red leaf kratom; I've heard its more sedating than white or green veined strains. You may want to avoid buying the really expensive extracts, I believe these can be a bit of a rip off. If I were you I'd just go for some decent powdered leaf; bali premium is fairly cheap, and I've heard it's good for opiate WD. (I personally use sumatra red vein and borneo red). We're not allowed to openly exchange sources here, so please pm me for some good vendors. Oh, whatever you do, don't buy kratom from headshops; go through a vendor that sells only kratom-they know their stuff.

Of course, you're detoxing from a powerful opiate; you may want to consider other drugs to take with the kratom. I will soon be coming off suboxone, and I will be using kratom, loperamide, and Kava. I've heard that loperamide in the right doses can really reduce WD symptoms. Also, clonidine may be an option for you, although I've heard it can have some negative side effects ie lethargy.

bottom if you want this to be at all pleasant you're going to need to taper down. like WAY down. 30mg iv dilaudid, if i'm reading it right is equivalent to a IV 240mg morphine daily, at roughly 8x morphine potency. If that's truly the case, expect BRUTAL withdrawals. Kratom is wonderful as a tool for detoxing people off of relatively small opiate habits, ime best between 20mg hydrocodone topping out at 100mg, or 80 oxycodone respectively. Past that things get very dicey. I watched a friend try to jump off 40mg of methadone using krat, he was routinely eating half ounces at a time, maybe three or four times a day, and at best it fucked his stomach up and BARELY held him, kinda painful to watch honestly. Anyhow, all is not lost. I would strongly recommend switching to a longer acting opiate, perhaps oxy, perhaps morphine, whatever is available and safe really. And taper down from there, after you have yourself in the range described above, i would experiment with kratom. Just my .02

Yeah, the above poster has a point; if you don't taper, it could get very painful. I've known heroin addicts who've detoxed using kratom-it helped, but it was far from painless, and they also used clonidine. Imo kratom is a unique and valuable tool, but it sure as hell isn't a magic wand.

Have you considered using bupe as either a short-term taper, or a maintenance
substitute? This could be an excellent option for somebody hooked on a powerful opiate; it's saved a lot of people from terrible lives, myself included.

If you're keen on detoxing using only kratom, you will need to use a hell of a lot to give you relief; expect to buy the stuff in very large quantities.

and expect it to work MUCH better after a serious taper. People always want to "get off now" because they have the drive at a particular moment, sadly it isn't like that. so don't fall into the pattern of expecting instant change. do it right. you'll be FAR less likely to slip back and hate on yourself for doing it, which as far as i can tell is one of the greatest risks for people at the early part of sobriety. myself included.

Yeah, that's sadly true; they do it cold turkey and the vast majority of them can't bear the intense withdrawals, and go straight back to using. I'm not sure of the exact figures, but success rates for cold turkey detoxes are extremely low.

Saying that, tapering does take a fair bit of self-control. Personally, I was never able to taper successfully; I'd start feeling a bit sick and go straight back to my regular dose.

If I was to stop cold, I'd make sure I'd have plenty of comfort drugs. I'd use clonidine, kratom, loperamide, and most certainly a 6 day supply of benzos. I think these could really help, but it still wouldn't be easy.
