Kratom Kratom for dogs

Dawgs are tough. Just let them be comfortable.

They are granted only about 18 yrs. Allow them to make it good for themselves.

Kratom should probably be the least of their worries.

They do fine w food water and love. (attention) For the span. oh my.

It was not long ago that if a dog lived till 12 it was very old. The days of the dog houses out back of our homes. One we introduced dental care and more love they are living longer. But if a dog lives till 13-14 it is a ripe old life. Some live till 18, our groomer had one Cocker Spaniel that was 18. But that is rare.

In all my years I never gave my dog kratom. I did give her gabapenbtin on occasion but she was also prescribed these 100 mgs capsules. I only gave it to her when I wanted her to relax. sleep and heal.

Love is a much better healer than substances. Even music relaxed my dog. I remember one time after needing to relax I would play her this and it worked every time. Straight to sleep.

I had a German shepherd and she was crazy the first couple years
Do the dog get alot of exercise? That breed needs alot of stimulation
This is the best advice on this thread. There's an old saying among dog people:
A tired dog is a good dog.

Dogs need a lot more exercise than most people realize-- and some dogs require an extraordinary amount. Without it they become anxious, irritable, and restless.

I would take her on long walks 3-4 times a day and play out in the backyard for a couple hours. That worked well. People make the mistake of getting large breeds and not exercising them enough, it's sad. Not the dogs fault but often they get rehomed

I would definitely not do that. If it were for pain that's a different story but I can't imagine any dog willingly eating an active dose of kratom. Just because the dog is hyper doesn't mean it should get put on an opioid regimen. Take it for a walk.

So true.
Walking one's dog a couple times a day isn't nearly enough. Even a person in excellent physical shape will get tired long before a dog will. Dogs need to run  for at least an hour a day, preferably more.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
Please tell your friend to try exercising the dog more before resorting to any medication. Ya wanna wear that dog out. The dog will be happier, healthier, and calmer.

Even if you consulted a vet the prescription would be antidepressants or antipsychotics.

Giving a dog an opioid dependency is animal cruelty.

This drug is also very toxic and contaminated with heavy metals also. It’s what they call in pharmacology a “dirty drug” because it hits so many different pharmacological targets. Who knows what it will do to a dog. They die from
Chocolate and caffeine due them having xanthene srimulants. Kratom is a stimulant. Different kind but this is a bad idea.

How much kratom to try giving a large dog for calming effect
My best friend has a very high strung German shepherd that weighs about 45 pounds.she is at her wits end and has tried just about everything to calm the dog down ( including training, cbd for pets, Benadryl with vet approval, Rx meds from the vet. Even per aroma therapy outlet plug-ins). Everything she’s tried either hasn’t worked or been too sedateing ( making her wonder if her pet will wake up)

If she doesn’t figure out something soon she might need to rehome the dog because it likes to damage things while she’s at work. Also the dog doesn’t do well strangers so pet sitters haven’t worked out.

So I suggested kratom and I have read a few articles that claim it’s safe and calming for dogs. The articles didn’t mention how to get the dosage right though. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
45lbs, talk about runt of the litter. I had a male German Shepard and he got to about 124lbs and was nice slim and trim after a diet and down to 100lbs.

Considering he was lazy and stupid, that helped.
But has this German Shepard been spayed, and how much exercise? What about some form of mental stimulation( mine was too stupid to care). Also the females are usually the calm ones.
Jen you had a crazy female German Shepard also? 45 lbs is medium small for a dog.

Does it have a doggie door to a fenced in backyard or does she have to hold it in, after her owner goes to work, works and then coming home to allow the dog to urinate or take a dump?

Part of the problem is knowing how to deal with German Shepards. They have to know they are not the alpha. Just look at them, they are as close looking to a wolf as you get.
No Kiely most dogs don't live 18 years, especially if they piss me off, just kidding. Some small breeds can live that long.

My decent sized male German Shepard, was lazy and stupid and had no desire for exercise. If your friend dumps her dog off at the pound, maybe she outta get a female golden retriever. Or some other breed she can handle
