the high doses of alcohol mixed with benzos is what brought on those symptoms in me.
i have, however, heard of benzos causing aggressive behavior in people w/out alcohol, and at what would be considered therapeutic doses. but essentialy, i think you're right; my theory is that in either case (mine w/ large quantities of benzos + alcohol or someone else who just has this unique reaction to benzos) that it probably has something to do w/ lowering of inhibitions and self-control. since not everyone has a high tolerance to these things and some people are very sensitive to them, it could present in relatively low doses
Many people have mixed views on what a therapeutic dose of a benzo is....lots of people take ALOT more than they need simply because thats what everyone else does, and I think that over time, this has caused a general confusion with people concerning how much SHOULD be taken....compared to how much people actually take. Because benzos are WIDELY abused and I think that this abuse has spread into the community of legal benzo users (and the grey area in between) causing the general population to think they need higher doses to have simple therapeutic effects.
According to rxlist.com the reccomended dose for clonazepam used for anxiety is 0.25mg's/day...up to 1mg/day.
The reccomended dose of clonazepam for SEIZURES ..."should not exceed 1.5 mg/day divided into three doses."
.....and I know that tolerance developes and doses often need to be increased....but not to the levels that most people are taking, or are even prescribed. Doctors overprescribe benzos EXTREMELY often, simply because its easy for a patient to say that they dont "feel" the effects anymore, even though the drug may still be working on your anxiety or seizures, you just may not be getting that "buzz" you enjoyed from earlier doses. I can guarantee you that the average person prescribed clonazepam or alprazolam for anxiety or seizures are taking doses MUCH higher than the doses reccomended on medical websites. Its a simple case of over-prescription.....just like all the "ADHD" medications given out to any kid who ignores his teacher.
