It happened around 4:30 this afternoon, when undercover police served a warrant in the 200 block of Lotteman.

The owner of the home tells us that the police were looking for drugs.

Their investigation didn't turn up any drugs, but instead several thousand dollars of video surveallance equipment and a number of protesters on site.

This is a developing story, so tune into CBS 7 News at 10 for the full story.

"Kop Busters" Plants Fake Drug Den 12/4/08

Odessa, Texas - They didn't find any drugs; instead they found a poster telling them they were on a reality show called "kop busters."

It's an online reality show that goes around the nation exposing what they say is police corruption. The reason they came to Odessa is because they were asked to by a man who says his daughter is falsely imprisoned.

Video cameras, plants masquerading, as drugs, and a message are what police found while serving a search warrant today.

Barry Cooper CEO of Kop Busters.com said: "The best equipment known to man is what Cop Busters has and we're going to continue going across America busting these cops."

The reality show team out of Austin has been setting up the fake drug den for 6 months, going through painstaking methods to keep it a secret.

"We had to use encrypted emails, we had to use Wal-Mart blowup cell phones in case our phones were tapped," said Cooper.

But why all the trouble? “Get Yolanda Madden out of prison," said Cooper.

In 2005, Odessa woman Yolanda Madden was convicted of the possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. Now she's serving a 7-year prison sentence.

"I could prove absolutely without a doubt she's innocent," said Raymond Madden

Her father says he's been trying to get a court to retry the case since the conviction.

"We had a witness that planted the drugs he testified in court that he planted the drugs," said Madden.

Cop Busters says the show exists to help fix the system.

Odessa police say the matter is still under investigation and at this point they are looking to see if any laws were broken.

We will continue to investigate the Yolanda Madden case and bring you any developments.

If this guy gets successful enough, they will find a way to shut him up. He's fucking with the most powerful organized street gang in the country!

Maybe they'll just happen to "find" some child porn on his computer, for example.

War On Christmas: Cops Raid Christmas Tree Growers

On the Fourth Day of the War on Christmas, Obama gave to me... Four falling cops.

The police in Odessa, Texas, thought that they had stumbled across a major find. More than just a "stash," as it is called in street slang, they were getting ready to "bust" a "reefer nursery" of sorts.

However, instead of finding a drug den teeming with "trees," a slang word for marijuana, they just encountered trees. Christmas trees. From Examiner.com:

I've long thought that too many civil liberties advocates (myself included) are reactive...What we need are more pro-freedom advocates who are confrontational and take the battle to the authorities...Sort of like what ex-cop Barry Cooper did when he set a trap for Odessa, Texas, police and filmed the results for his online reality show, KopBusters.

According to Cooper's Website: said:
KopBusters rented a house in Odessa, Texas and began growing two small Christmas trees under a grow light similar to those used for growing marijuana. When faced with a suspected marijuana grow, the police usually use illegal FLIR cameras and/or lie on the search warrant affidavit claiming they have probable cause to raid the house. Instead of conducting a proper investigation which usually leads to no probable cause, the Kops lie on the affidavit claiming a confidential informant saw the plants and/or the police could smell marijuana coming from the suspected house.

The trap was set and less than 24 hours later, the Odessa narcotics unit raided the house only to find KopBuster's attorney waiting under a system of complex gadgetry and spy cameras that streamed online to the KopBuster's secret mobile office nearby.

Guess you could say Cooper nipped them in the bud.

To be fair to the cops, they were tipped off by this man, who only refers to himself as "The Heat Miser."

Cooper also markets a line of DVD's called "Never Get Busted Again," which you can order from the website. Remember, today is Rod Blagojevich's birthday.

Cooper's idea is clever, and I like the symbolism of the Christmas Trees as the bait.

I also immediately wondered what it would be like to reverse the equation, and have marijuana plants stand in for Christmas Trees. It sure would make lighting the Christmas tree a lot more interesting. I wonder how difficult it is to gift wrap Doritos.

So far, it seems that whoever or whatever is at war with Christmas, Christmas is winning. Whether it's reindeer repression, secular symbiosis, un-merry muggers, or corrupt cops, Christmas is fighting back hard.

Brilliant!

If I wasn't in such a precarious position, I'd be rigging one of these things up myself!
