hey everyone new poster here. anyways.. over the past month or so ive aten about 2mg klonopin a day sometimes 6.. im on my 3rd day of cold turkey quitting. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how long the withdrawals should last as its only been about a month, and if cold turkey would be safe.

Hey and welcome,

It should not last too long, talking about a week max would be safe to say.

Do you any chance of doing a quick taper? Unlike some other drugs its always wise to do even a short taper with benzos, youll get away much easier, even without any symptoms after short use like yours and decrease chance of a seizure which is the worst case scenario. I have learned this the hard way. If you have taken 2mg 3 days ago, take 1mg now, 0.5mg next day, then 0.25 and perhaps 0.1 the last day. This should be much more comfortable.

Definitely agree with cook. If you have any remaining klonopin, try a taper. It will really ease the symptoms.

I'd say you're unlikely to have any serious issues after one month. However, keep an eye on your blood pressure and heart rate. If it starts spiking, or you feel really jumpy (muscle spasms) go to the ER. Again, I highly doubt that will happen.

A little alcohol may help if you're having strong anxiety/panic attack, but don't drink too much. Gabapentin and Lyrica will help with the symptoms as well. However, you should be able to get through without these. The withdrawal should last about a week, two at most.

Good job on getting off the klonopin early, long-term benzos are a bitch to kick!

thanks for the feedback guys. Im going to do the taper as cook suggested. Didnt think id have withdrawals like this only after about a month of abuse.. goes to show how shitty benzos are
