Klonopin Question

I have a very high tolerance to Xanax and Klonopin (had a seizure and was hospitalized twice from Xanax withdrawals a month ago after a 45 Xan bar in three day binge and running out). So for the past month, I've been somewhat Benzo free. But, I'm having terrible panic attacks and I can feel the onsets basically 24/7. My doc doesn't want to prescribe me anything after my abuse before. Anyways, right now I have five .5 mg klonopin on me and I have only taken about 1 mg of klonopin over the past week or so.

My question is basically: with possibly a lowered tolerance to benzos, how effective would drinking Grapefruit juice 30 minutes before I parachute/swallow the 2.5 mg of klonopin be? And if I'm going to drink the Grapefruit juice half an hour before taking the 2.5 mg of klonopin, should I parachute them or just swallow them? I just want a nice evening of no anxiety for once. I've lost a lot of major aspects of my life lately.

Haven't experienced it firsthand, but I've heard that a benzo tolerance is one of the hardest to shake.

I can't predict how high you'll get, but for maximum efficiency I'd suggest:

1) eating a Tums or two after the juice, just before the Klonopin--helps neutralize the acid in the juice as well as stomach acid, both of which will destroy the clonazepam
2) melting the Klonopin under your tongue (sublingual administration)--slightly higher bioavailability than oral, and comes on faster. And it tastes all minty and yummy :D

Anxiety is an absolute beast. Good luck, both today and in your search for a long-term solution.

P.S. For future reference, this kind of question should go in Basic Drug Discussion ;)

^^^ sublingual administration would mean the acids in your stomach wouldn't come into play. No need for the tums

Fair point. I was just thinking that 5 0.5s at once is so much powder to park under the tongue that some's bound to end up in the stomach, so a Tums might be a useful precautionary measure, especially with super-acidic citrus juice. Could just be my druggie superstition though haha

Not to go beyond the reach of this thread, but I just had an idea: if WGFJ's only action is to inhibit the CYP3A4 enzymes in the liver, and the clonazepam was taken sublingually, thus absorbed directly into the bloodstream and bypassing the digestive tract, would the CYP3A4 inhibition still have an effect on substance metabolism and % efficiency? Would the effect be lesser because first-pass metabolism is bypassed? According to wikipedia, CYP3A4 enzymes are found in lower concentrations elsewhere in the body too...interesting.

In my storied experience, it still helps a hell of a lot. I always SL my bennies and grapefruit virtually never fails to boost it. Also regular grapefruit is no worse than wgfj, I usually just eat the ripe fruit itself. So delicious.
