after a mental breakdown due to anxiety and depression, I started taking 50 mg of zoloft a week ago. My anxiety has become very severe but the doctor said this was normal and I should jut power through it. However, she did also give me a prescription for klonopin to offset the zoloft induced anxiety. But all the klonopin does is make me tired. It isn't reducing my anxiety even when I take it three times a day. Could I be asked to be switched to a different benzo? Or should I just keep powering through until the zoloft kicks in?

It takes about a month to notice the positive effects of the zoloft. I am on zoloft 100mg in the AM. It is extremely helpful and puts me closer to baseline from a state of anxiety. Give it time to work, and don't take any other drugs that aren't prescribed while you are doing your research.

Start a journal: In the AM right about your feelings...in the PM recap your feelings for the day. This is a good tool in working with your psychiatrist to help get you on the right medications.

You may also need to add a PRN benzo if you have panic disorder.

I have had two mental breakdowns, and on this course of medication I do not feel that wariness and hyper vigilance associated with panic disorder.

Basically just give the meds a chance to work.

klonopin may not be the right benzo because it takes two hours to really kick in. Maybe lorazepam, or alprazolam may be a better PRN medication for you.

klonapin is a weak long acting benzo. since it's so weak you won't feel shit from it. ask for xanax man. it's alot more potent and can help. I have xanax and I love it. It helps me with panic.
