Hi bluer's. I have been on klonopin for over a year at three mgs a day. I ran out early this month (I deal with lyme disease and the mental issues of anxiety and ocd and general sense of doom) 7 days early. I went into walgreens of course no help (I'm 23) the pharmacist wouldn't even take the time to get off the phone to speak with me. I called everyone I could possibly think of who could help absolutely no one is available. I'm sure you have all heard this a million times before but it has literally brought me to sobbing curled up on the bed in hysterics and I'm not a guy who freaks out easily (ironic). I called my uncle who of blood relation and been on ativan for 25 years and is tapering and just told him what was going on and we talked for nearly an hour it was just calming to hear someone who knows what is going on. Anyway he told me to go to the ER as I assumed he would (after offering to drive an hour and a half to come bring me some) and explain what the situation is. Which I would gladly do. Only just about two months ago I was hospitialized sat the local hospital for falling and nailing my head while drunk very problematic drinker been sober since then and I made such a horrendous horrifc embarassing scene I'm mortified of even going in the place and am convincing myself they will think I'm insane and it's making me more anxious on top of the fact I have the interview for my dream job lined up for Wednesday and all I can think is I'm going to have to cancel. Anyway does anyone have any input, please ? :(

I'd assume that you have a regular Doctor with your condition, Is he/she not available for whatever reason? If not id be heading there, ive had to bite the bullet when id overdone my benzo and go and see the doctor, if ur dependant and you need them (which id assume after a year you would) id advise that you get off to ur doctor, if not the local ER may be ur only course of action. Cold turkey is especialy hazodours with benzos especialy mine (Xanax) I'm not sure about Kpins, although ive been on them before. End line stopping benzos abruptly is dangerous. Dr. or ER hey.

edit: sorry! i didn't read your post that well and posted incorrect information. i tried deleting this post but someone is haxn my computer and it won't let me

So you ran out 7 days ago? That is a long time to go in these things. And you didn't really describe any negative symptoms as such. But either way I agree with the above - that you need to find a source, preferably a legitimate one. There is always a risk with things like benzos and opiates that doctors you've never seen before will not be willing to prescribe. Some of them will literally stand up and begin to usher you out of the room as soon as you say the word 'benzo'. Or they may give you like one tablet to stop you from having a seizure and tell you to piss off. It's up to you really.

Thank you for your frank opinion. I appreciate it I seem to have calmed down from hysteria I know I will never sleep tonight but I don't know what else can be done. I just literally go crazy if I walk into that ER and am turned away. I need to keep it as a possibility. I have never felt so fucking horrendous in my life. I'm sure I will be awake all night if anyone else feels like checking in with something positive or a possibility. Please do.

Hey my friend...I've been taking Klonopins (or clonazepam) for 10 yrs now. 1 mg twice-a-day. Plus 30 mg Remeron (mirtazapine) for clinical depression & the clonnies are for anxiety.
If you haven't run out early before, your doc should realize that these things happen occasionally. Now, if you've bugged him before for an early refill, forget it...but never having this situation before? Oughta be no prob filling a week early.

Thanks squid head. I agree 100% with what you are saying I don't know if I included it in what I said but my doctor is a one man show and he is on vacation so I really have no one who knows my mental and physical health background. Otherwise I would absolutely be calling my doctor. Appreciate it though.

I second this, as stated above i had to bite the bullet b4 and go to see my Dr.... Funnily enough im on the same regiment as described above, exept im on xanax which makes it harder. Go to ur Doctor, if ur not abuseing them ul get a refill a week earlier.

Why not take your uncle up on his offer for some Ativan till your doctor gets back? Best if your doc doesn't know about this at all, so if your uncle can give you a few days worth, go for it. If you're really hurting then you should go to the ER, or a clinic if it can wait till Monday. A free/public clinic will often see you the same day, though you might have to wait around for awhile.

I tried to quit cold turkey after taking 4mg/day for the better part of the past decade and I caved in after 3 grueling days without. Felt like the world was closing in on me, so I understand the hell you're going through. You take 3mg? Once you get ahold of some more, try cutting your dose down to 2mg every other day or so for a month and putting aside the 1mg you didn't take, so you'll have a small stockpile in case you're in a pinch like this… it's the lesson that I took away from that awful experience.

Good luck with this and keep us updated!

Yeah this is a shit situation. I don't think - to be honest - that at this late stage (day 7) any ER doctor would be willing to give you benzos. They would tell you that the worst is behind you and that, if you've come this far safely, you're not at any risk of seizures or harm.

Why can't you go to your uncle yourself?

Also, most doctors - shrinks especially - tend to leave someone in charge of their affairs in their absence. They know that people run out of scripts and you can usually see someone else, who will have your file. You should find out if that is the case presently. Maybe your doctor would even be willing to fax you a script.

Otherwise there are a number of things that can help.

Valerian root can be bought in capsule form and helps with sleep and with anxiety. It helped me alot getting off bupe.

Magnesium in tablet or epsom salt form can be used for restlessness and soreness.

Anti-histamines like diphenhydramine or doxylamine are available without prescription and IMO are at least as effective as benzos in getting a person to sleep. You can also take them in smaller doses during the day to keep you calm and sedate.

Thanks Sueesmayer. And everyone. I think I made a mistake in my original post I have only run out since yesterday morning but I'm about seven days early. I have basically been taking huge amounts of magnesium for my legs and been moving from the bed to the couch. Waiting for someone to wake up to take me to the hospital. I don't drive dui yay. So all in all this is just torture. I just got in touch with my uncle I'm going to ask him if there is anyway we can meet up.

Well the good news is I messaged him this morning and he straightened things out and is making a two hour drive to see me. What is family for ? Thank you everyone for helping calm me down. I hadn't posted in forever but knew I could rely on TDS for some ounce of sanity.
