as well as remaining potent?

I know Ayurvedic variety apparently do not contain this poisionous coating, but I am wondering how their potency is?
I have only used this seed once in the past. They were given to me by a friend who claimed that I needn't worry about the coating found on other varieties of seeds... and that the seeds as well were very potent. I've since lost communication with him.

edit: Just read Ayurvedic doesn't do the trick. How about Ghana?

I think the coating is an integral part of the seed defense and you'd have to find a strain where the cyanogenic glycosides/other irritants were bred out. To the best of my knowledge I'm not sure this has been done because people can sit down and pull the seed coats off a dozen HBWR without much trouble.

Also, the wild mix of ergine alkaloids in HBWR/MG can easily "feel" polsonous.

There is no poisnous coating if you mean the old urban myth that seed manufacturers "coat" the seeds in poison. That's an urban myth they made up in the 60's.

i found if you leave the fussy outer coating on you have a better time i.e. the more you feel like your dying on the come up the better and try to be sick sooner no than t45mins then just do it sit back and enjoy

The myth of the coating is in some cases true. The manufacturers don't put the coating on to poison us though. It's actually a coating to help the seed to germinate or prevent it from germinating if the seed is is easliy susceptable to that.

besides, most of the HBWR seeds are grown and uncoated to be sold to us for consumption, even though it says not to :)
