Kicking Kratom

Hi all,

I'm currently tapering off Kratom after around two years use. I was using between 10 - 12 GPD & I've tapered down to 4.5 GPD split into two doses over the last three weeks. I'm finding the physical withdrawal manageable but the feeling of depression & lack of motivation it causes the day or two after reduction is tough now. Not sure if I should hold at the dose for a while & no idea what dose to jump from? If anyone has any experience & can give advice that would be great.
I'm supplementing with magnesium Glycinate black seed oil & Liposomal vitamin C to help.

You’ll find a community of support at the quitting kratom subreddit discord.

My opinion:
Hold the dose until comfortable enough to deal with the minor withdrawal you’ll feel dropping down a gram. It’s as short as three months at a gram a week. Admittedly at 16gpd you could just give it a shot. All the withdrawal and suffering could be handled at once from that dose. I would get some more supplements. DLPA is invaluable. Gabapentin would make your life so much easier. B complex vitamin for energy. Keep the citric acid dose low. It’ll make you shit a ton. And you’re already going to be basically pissing out of your ass for a bit. Kinda humiliating. But you’ll deal with it and come out stronger and more free on the other side. The only way out is through. Your suffering is real and will help your mind to recover from opiated complacency with being addicted to opiates. I’m sure little you wasn’t dreaming about choking down 16 grams of tree leaves to feel funny every day much less how much you were taking st the height of your use.

I have a post. I think if you search the term vitamin and cross it to my username you’ll find it. It might help.

You’ll be okay. You’re suffering matters. And it can all be over in like 14 days. You’ll have to realize how much relearning you’ll have to do. But it is
Possible to quit kratom and other opiates.

Anybody have the ideal “recipe” for opiate/kratom detox? IE: gabapentin, ketamine, clonidine and what doses? Getting ready again and always gathering new info

Well I am trying to do the same but at this point regular kratom is keeping me ok. Not talking extracts or 7-oh, I think those raise tolerance too much for a person quitting. So with 25 gr a day of plain leaf I use it at like (12 gr) 7:00AM and (12m gr) 5-00PM. I have skipped days with gabapentin. Stager 2400 mgs one day. 300 mgs every 30 minutes if you have a fast metabolism. Have some food with it, eat a little, take 300 mgs, then eat a little more. Have soda or seltzer. I add a shot of apple cider vinegar. I empty the caps and toss the powder. It completely takes away anything from the wd. Honestly I only get yawns chill and lethargy when I stop. But if I use gabapentin I can go like 36 hours. I never went further but feel it would be easy to take it one day, suffer a little the next then take gabapentin again the next day. And so on. I don't think gabapentin would work as well with say poppy pods. Poppies are a hard kick but it completely ends. Kratom is like the jealous little sister trying to act tough. Gabapentin is stronger than kratom. I say this as someone that knows non BL people that take gabapentin and never felt a thing. Crazy. When I ask them about effects or withdrawal they tilt their head. Gabapentin should over the counter like aspirin.

I have to qualify powder kratom over anything else. I know people call those little shots kratom and pills and it probably is. But they cause more problems. Some could be suspect. Kratom to me is that leaf (the bali leaf we had to grind ourselves I still have from 20 years ago and is still great)

Good luck man. Stay safe. I mean do you need to stop? Sometimes something safe is good to look forward too. (not those strong extracts)
I know though I want to be clear of everything and feel clarity and just feel much better than my anxious self. Good thing I sleep well. I can sleep in wd from kratom with just cannabis. Stronger stuff not needed.

I did use clonidine on heroin kicks years ago. That was given even before buprenorphine was an option. Use it for heroin and methadone kicks but I never felt it did much but who knows. It is praised here. Maybe use it before sleep.

Here is the master list in order of importance

DLPA- has the most profound overall benefit by providing building blocks of dopamine
Magnesium - helps with restless legs and stress
Liposomal vitamin C - helps with everything
Vitamin D- helps with the PAWS depression
L-theanine - helps with stress by providing immediate calm take more than recommended like 300 mg
ashwaghanda - regulates cortisol levels which are going to be going haywire
Multivitamin - helps with everything
B-complex- get that shit out of your system faster and have energy in the fucking mire of post opiate life
Iron— helps with not having been eating right if that was the case for you

Go get your ears acupunctured. Just tell them it’s for heron or opiate detox. Maybe placebo sure but placebo works 50% of the time if you believe the placebo will help

under the advice of your doctor
Good comfort meds
Gabapentin - 1800 mg is used by Iranian doctors but this is unprecedented in the us but I found it worked for heron withdrawal
Clonidine - never tried it but I’ve heard good things
Don’t know anything about the dosage
A benzo- helps with the sleeping. Don’t use it for anything else.

Remember that you’re going to be hopeless. You’re going to be sad. You’re going to have to rebuild your life, your coping mechanisms, and your reward system from scratch. No one can do this for you. Rehab can help if you’re afraid you can’t bear the weight. You’re stronger than you think. But everyone needs help.

If you’re going to relapse it’s time to consider MAT
I’d rather see you on methadone than see you curled over in the street scratching your bones through a xylazine sore

I’d rather see your teeth fall out from suboxone usage than see you with the smile the mortician chose for you because fent took you from us.

I’d rather see you at the Smokeshop buying kratom having decided to give kicking another try later.

I’m a college graduate. It took me longer to make the decision to quit using opiates and even longer to quit than it took me to earn a four years degree; and that took me seven years.

I’m speaking from experience.

I know you can do it.

Take time away from work if you need to.
2 weeks is more than enough to return to week feeling better than ever.

For kratom 7 days off work will have you recovering while you’re at work but you’ll be worlds better off than if you had tried to work for the first six days.

(The above is a little summary of the most important bits from my post)

Yeah the depression can be tricky. I feel kratom can act as natural antidepressant which then can cause additional issues when withdrawing.
Generally I found kratom pretty relaxed to taper with. I would start with 10g (I never found dosing higher worthwhile and rather do a tolerance break at that point) once a day. That can be enough to avoid WD. If not, dosing twice can work. I then would reduce the dose gently, maybe 1 gram per week. If you run into issues, you can always slow down. Stay on your level a bit longer before lowering and/or lower the dose in smaller steps. Srsly compared to methadone or suboxone a kratom taper seems much less of a commitment.

I ended up on this stuff because I needed to discontinue Suboxone. I am not sure how Ill ever taper off kratom. Once my dose runs out I experience the most extreme restless body syndrome imaginable; not just restless legs, my entire body. It feels like ants are crawling through my blood. And like you it comes with that overwhelming feeling of dread that happens during opioid withdrawal.
