can someone explain to me what this is? i realize it happens when you take a bunch of k but ive always thought kholing was an overdose on k but apparently it is not

These things are pretty common. I think they, as well as the often reported sense of "precognition"during heavy ketamine trips can be essentially explained as follows: the sensory signals that synthesize into the conscious experience of the next note of music, or the next word out a person on television's mouth, for instance, are first synthesized non-consciously or partially consciously in one part of the brain and then present themselves in full conscious experience in another area of the brain afterward (by "full" I mean the kind of episodic experiences we can talk explicitly about). While we're sober this succession of brain processes happens so quickly that events in the environment (like music playing) and our conscious recognition of them happen essentially simultaneously, but when ketamine is blocking signals between different areas of the brain, the delay between non-conscious processing and conscious processing is extended. The result is that we "hear" the next note or lyric of music partially consciously a while before it's finally all put together for our clear experience of hearing the note for storage in declarative memory. So the experience of listening to music during one of these ketamine episodes is like: "Wow, it's like I've heard this exact same music so clearly prior to now that it's like it's being made for this moment".with occasional psychotic thinking (like that the music i'm listening to was made for this experience or it was being performed for me by real entities/people live), with many low-resolution visions.
