I'm doing a critical review paper for a behavioural neuroscience subject at uni, and the area of study is schizophrenia. We were told to discuss possible causes for schizophrenia and its various symptoms. I chose to focus on ketamine mainly because of its psychotomimetic effects. What I am arguing is that although subanaesthetic doses of ketamine can produce many of the negative (and some positive?) symptoms of schizophrenia, these effects are temporary.
Does anyone know of any papers that investigate prolonged psychosis from ketamine use? Or for that matter, from other NMDA antagonists?
