Hi everyone!
I'm planning to make a nasal ketamine spray for medical purposes. One pump should deliver 10mg Ketamine. Normaly a nose spray contains 20ml solution with 140 doses. That means I would need about 1.4g Ketamine. As I don't need too much Ketamine per week I'm concerned about sterility and durability of the solution. I think it would be optimal to use 0.9% saline. I'm just wondering if it's useful to add a preservative substance like benzyl alcohol (and what amount)? Or can I use a standard saline nasal spray from the pharmacy - I just don't want a reaction with the Ketamine...
Second, is it possible to sterelize the ketamine? For example solve it in 70% ethanol and let it dry?
Thanks for the replies!
(I've seen that there are already threads about nasal sprays but they seem a bit outdated)
