Im 21 years old and have been dealing with an addicton to intravenous drugs. from age 16-18 was steadily injecting ketamine which then shifted to an opiate addiciton for about two more years. I went on methadone for one year and managed to get off the final mlgs with some help from suboxone and was clean for about a year. Recently ( the past few months) I have been back on k worse than ever and cant seem to get a grip. Looking for some support groups or helpful advice . My life is completely fucked and i need some assistance. Any tips? I live in toronto ontario

Sorry to hear you've slipped up again dude.
But at 21, you still have a lot of chances left to turn things around...
You have done it before.. You have managed to escape opiate addiction, which is a big thing. So I believe you have the strength inside to move forward once again.
Hang in there <3

Hey bayleaf,

If your looking for some support groups check out some aa, na or SMART groups in your area? They can really be helpful, and maybe they wont work with you but at least you can say you gave it a try. Relapse is actually a part of recovery so I would not be to hard on yourself, and you have already realized you have an issue and are asking for help. Are you currently tapering your dose at all? Bluelight can be a great place for finding support and people to relate to. Wishing you nothing but luck.

How did you end up getting off the K before? I really don't know much about ketamine or its addiction potential and qualities, whether psychological or physical. It sounds like you may have simply transitioned to an opiate addiction. Perhaps try getting into a suboxone program, unless you're already on it. Is there anything in particular that caused you to back to using after a year clean, and kept you using once you started back? Like tripnotyzm said, you're young so you have a chance to turn things around still, stay strong and reach out to people in your life you can count on for support! Try to be honest with the people in your life who truly care about you, although I know how hard it can be to feel like you've disappointed them yet again. Just don't beat yourself up for relapsing, it happens to most people, especially people who dived into the deep end young and stayed there for a while.

Good luck!

I can't give you any advice for how to control your addiction but I would recommend getting your bladder checked out because virtually everyone that uses high enough doses of ketamine on a daily basis ends up eventually having bladder problems. Eventually if you don't stop it could lead to you having to have your bladder completely removed which will be fairly debilitating so I hope you manage to knock this addiction on the head. I don't mean to scare you but it's something to think of whilst your trying to find the will to stop.
