Kavanaugh sworn in

CNN THIS JUST IN

His YALE FRIEND says KAVANAUGH LIED ABOUT HIS DRINKING

Implied Kavanugh's other friends LIED TO PROTECT HIM

Oh, the sounds of dominoes falling and the smell of napalm.

I thought this was all about rape...well, sexual assault if not actually rape. Is the victim no longer the priority? Finding anything to pin on Kavenaugh is the goal? Just trying to remain focused on what the real issue is here that we wish to address, since it seems to be changing (again).

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the guy drank in college. How much? How much is too much? Subjective. Besides, alcoholics can't remember how many they had, just that they need another. Amirite?

He was under oath, as a federal judge, and chose to lie. Come on, dude, that's a huge red flag and you know it.

His character is under question. Lying isn't painting his character well.

This isn't about rape. If it was a rape, who cares? Statue of limitations means past 5 years, no one cares, right? This is about his character, if he will lie, if he can be trusted to be a good person and make moral/ethical decisions. That is a really important facet of being a supreme court justice (making moral/ethical decisions as per parameters of the law). Lying is a huge red flag.

Lying about your alcoholism for a job is one thing. Doing it under oath in front of the senate potentially committing perjury for a job promotion is pretty fucking awful for a sitting federal judge.

I can't understand why the conservatives don't see things my way AND JUST PICK ANOTHER PERSON, of better moral character. You can choose a conservative! Just pick SOMEONE ELSE.

A question I ask; why didn't anyone accuse Gorsuch of rape? Probably because he never sexually assaulted anyone. Why did no one accuse him of being a raging alcoholic? He probably wasn't one.

Everyone lies, man.

It's true but not everyone wants to be a supreme court justice.

Do you think it fair that we hold politicians or jurists to higher standards than we do for everyday folks? It seems less excusable to my mind.

this. the whole interview process is about his character. a sexual predator isnt somebody that should be on the supreme court. neither is a belligerent drunk that appears for his hearings drunk. nor is somebody that commits perjury. nor is somebody that hides his past and dodges questions instead of answering them. nor is a partisan conspiracy theorist.

remember, this whole thing is a job interview. prosecutors should absolutely pick up the sexual assault and perjury cases, but currently there is no criminal case going on against him, its all about his character, what kind of person he is.

^ it's looking increasingly likely - if not certain - that he lied under oath.

do you think that should not disqualify him?

alasdair

How do we know he liked under oath? Hearsay about drinking being disqualifying means there will never be another supreme Court Justice.

We've gone from rape to desperate grasping at straws (hearsay on drinking.)

I said it is bad politics to attack Kavanaugh about drinking hearsay... Absolutely on topic. But ok. 10 on 1 debate not quite good enough?

Anyways I will stop until the next ridiculous story
