Kava-kava is a plant of Polynesia with whose root be prepared a drink called kava-kava or just kava. Kava-kava produces a euphoric sedative effect and has anxiolytic, antidepressant, muscle relaxant and anticonvulsant properties. In areas of Oceania where kava-kava is drunk traditionally there are kava bars where people meet and talk softly every person with a bowl of kava. Kava-kava acts as a social lubricant like alcohol in Western culture.

In the West have been developed based kava-kava pharmaceuticals as capsules or sublingual spray. In Germany, doctors prescribe kava-kava to treat anxiety disorders and depression.

Across Europe kava-kava is prohibited except in Germany.

I have the opportunity to buy a powdered extract of Vanuatu kava-kava standardized to 30% kavalactones. The seller says to take one teaspoon in water and drink but do not know if that dose is low, medium or high. Considering 30% kavalactones, how much would a dose for a powerful effect?
Tolerance to benzodiazepines, does it affect the effect of kava-kava?
