is this a safe drug interaction/ there is no info on the net about it ? i get my kava kava from z even my dr is not sure about kavas interactions with other drugs

It's pretty safe if you have nothing to do for four hours. It will be really smooth and mellow...
You will want to talk to somebody, Kava is very sociable as you might know.

Awesome if you ask me...

Both Kava and Benzodiazepines act on GABA receptors. There will definitely be a combined sedation. I'd be careful.

Mixing a QUALITY extract of Valarian with only 2mg of Lorazapam knocked me on my ass.....I got off the bus immediately and fell asleep on the side of the road....woke up 45 minutes latter foggy headed, and 3 hours later felt full of energy again.

Use caution mixing depressants. Kava can be potent.

Kava can be potent, but I have found that most pills/tablets/capsules that you buy of Kava at the local pharmacy or health food store will be rather weak. You'd need to take quite a few of them to really feel the effects. However if you can get fresh kava, or whole leaf/root in bulk from somewhere and make your own extract/tincture then it can be far more potent.

I have found valerian from the local pharmacy/health store to be more potent than any kava I have ever purchased form the same type of shop, but, likewise, I would normally need to take 1000mg+ to feel any effects.

[that being said, my GABA_A receptors seem to be generally more unresponsive than most folks']

Micheals Tierras "Planetary Formulas" has an alcohol extract of Kava Kava that is potent. He was my herbal teacher, and unlike a lot of other companies, he believes in giving people a "real dose", not namby pamby fluff fluff.
