I recently bought some fresh ground kava root as an alternative to taking benzos, and it seems to work pretty well. I usually mix about 3 tablespoons of kava with 1 cup 2% milk and some chocolate syrup, with some vegetable oil as an emulsifier. However whenever I take it my stomach really starts hurting maybe 1:30 - 2 hours after consumption. I was wondering if this happens to anyone else, and maybe what they have found to counteract it? Also I am partially lactose intolerant ( like I eat ice cream but generally avoid milk elsewhere) and it is my understanding that I need a liquid with fat in it to help with the kavalactone extraction. Is this true or what are some other liquids that people have found effective at helping the kava do its job. Thanks bl'ers and I'm sure somone out there can help me out.%)

Hey Buddy...

First of all,GO DENVER! :-) I'm moving there this summer, vewwy excited ^_^

Making Kava does require patience, but it pays off in that you won't have any GI pains after drinking. First of all, blend half a cup of cocnut milk (preferably organic) with a cup or less of water, and your kava. Blend well, then let sit for at least half an hour (I let it sit for 2) then blend thoroughly, strain ( I use a gold coffee filter, makes a fine creamy drink), and reblend with desired sweetener. There u have it!

For a real boost, mix 2 teaspoons kratom (powdered) with a tbsp of maca into your Kava! It's the JAM
