30K people in one big room with soon no power, no running water, no working toilets, overflowing sewers.... A couple of days in those conditions and you'll see some tempers flare... by the hundreds.

There was also discussion that the field and lower levels of the stadium might fill with water. The bottom line here is that New Orleans is no longer a city, it's a swamp once again.

what it moves to west and takes out texas !!!!!

now that would be poetic justice seeing how bush refuses to aknowledge global warming and this storm is gathering its energy from unusauly warm gulf water temps

Perhaps, but there have been massive hurricanes before and in much colder waters. The Great Hurricane of 1938 came ashore with winds of 161 MPH on Long Island, where water temperatures are on average about twenty degrees less than that of the Gulf.

So, how many people died in Hurricane Andrew? 23?

So we can expect the death toll to get into the 20s? I'll bet in a largish city like New Orleans more than 20 people die every day from accidents and natural causes combined. What's the difference?

i did not say bushes fault i said he refuses to aknowledge global warming

you would be hard pressed to blame a hurricane on a single person no matter how stupid he is

i know you are just baiting people cmb but if you really think this thing is only going to kill 20 people you are not paying attention

The death toll will probably be much higher than twenty, unfortunately some people probably didn't get out in time or chose not to leave at all. The hurricane will also have lasting effects beyond a death toll. Because of the amount of damage that is going to occur in New Orleans and elsewhere, we could be talking about hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of people left homeless. These people will effectively be refugees because it is going to take a long time to get rid of the water and sewage that is going to submerge the city.

takeing that into account and the loss of gas and oil production how can you disagree with my scenario of how it will go in the markets in the days to come?

Yep, you heard it here with me first...and I quote "FUCKIN' BUSH AND HIS CRONIES!!! *shakes fist*"

And I stand by it godammit!!

This storm has nothing to do with global warming. There's climate, which typically deals with emergent patterns not immediately present to everyday life, and there's "shit happens" weather. This is the latter, and even a global warming proponent would say the same.

^^666th post woooooo.....I always thought that I'd be able to read something evil in my 666th post, but no....unless anyone else can see anything inherently evil about it? No?

Cheers.

Edit....maybe something about the "centered dead on the storm right now" bit???Hmmm...
