In short, now I'm sick as hell like normal people get-- with a terrible cold. Coughing up fluids, weak and tired, runny nose and congestion and sore throat... It's just frustrating, you know? I want to focus on getting better and not using, and I'm so sick I can't get out of bed without almost fainting. I know this is apparently normal for people to get sick while their bodies are weak and susceptible from withdrawal but so frustrating. I wish I could even focus on getting back to work-- I'm worried about having to go to the doctor.
Anyone else had to deal with this? Everytime I have gotten sick for years I just got crazy high now I'm just sucking this bullshit up its awful :(

This seems pretty common in people. Sorry you are sick.. drink plenty of fluids and rest.

As you get better make sure you are taking vitamins, eating healthy, exercising, getting enough sleep. Your health should come back aroiund.

Nice work on kicking :)

I personally was addicted to opiates and have found I have a compromised immune system since quitting I'm 17 months clean (in 4 days) and still get sick more often that I used to . . however I have been told you eventually reach an equilibrium and are at par with everyone else, just take a lot of vitamins, drink lots of water and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.. congrats on getting sober you accomplished a really big task!!!!

Thanks guys! It would feel like a bigger step if I felt better. I hate that I am still sleeping in shifts too... like two- four hours at a time-- sucks ass. You being 17 months clean is so amazing! If I can just make it there you have no idea. I have been clean for years before it just took some powerful ass other drugs to do that. Ill work on the fruits and veggies. I have 0 appetite and I was really skinny before now im gaunt looking. Ill work on it. All I want to do is drink the raging anxiety away-- I have no idea how to deal with it anymore...
Thanks so much!!:D

Southeast! The anxiety will go away! Drinking will only come to bite you back. If you can. Stick it out! You made it this far there's no point in turning back now!

I have been having like one drink to go to sleep but I always wake up sweating with my heart pounding just seems like I can actually lay down. it makes it worse? I dont really have any desire to be clean of all drugs. All I have done since I got home is search for ketamine.

I actually got sick when visiting my family and traveling out west for family vacation recently, and I had just quit opiates as well. Got my whole family sick too. It was really bad. I just rested and ate and drank, and it got better. I started working out again when I could too and that helped a lot.

thanks-- i wish my brain didnt feel dead but i know it will get better one day thanks everyone

Yup standard procedure for detox unfortunately. When I did a dhc taper in treatment I went through it nice and easy and on day 1 clean I got the most violent stomach infection I've ever had, my stomach was empty of everything including bile within a few hours and I was lying on the floor of the doctors surgery begging for him to stick an anti-emetic jab in my arse.
