Hi people. I have recently been diagnosed with Hypogonadism (I am only 24, my sex drive just dissapeared one day about a year ago, which I found very odd, and I generally didn't feel right), finally found out the other week.

My test levels were only 4.5 nmol/L, which is awful for someone my age.

I had my first injection of Nebido( Testosterone undecanoate 1000MG) Yesterday. I don't feel any different yet, although they said it usually takes around a week to feel the benefit. I am hoping it brings back my sex drive and helps with the mental problems such as anxiety and memory issues (the doctor said it will).

Just wondered if there is any other people here on Test for the same reasons, and if so, how long was it till you felt the benefit? How often do you have your injections?

They are not sure yet how spaced out my injections will need to be, I need to have a blood test before the usual 12 weeks to see if my levels are lower than average, if so they can give it every 8 or 10 weeks instead.

Can you not opt for self administered trt? It would sure beat the hell out of the massive injection of nebido each time and provide more stable blood levels

How would I go about self administered TRT, I didn't know that was an option here in the UK? Is the treatment I am receiving bad then?

I don't know anything about this stuff, only what I'm being told by the doctors.

Just ask your doctor about it. Since you're on the other side of the pond it should be testosterone enanthate I believe.

I believe I posted up the research papers done on Test-U a while back...

As with all injections of esterified test, plasma levels spike within about a day staying elevated before dropping off... But the peaks and troughs times are too long between injections, plus the results of the test aren't optimally presented (refer to the chart in Fig. 1)... Blood tests have been done at 7 day intervals conveniently obscuring the higher initial plasma spike at about 2 days....

In short, its convenient for a GP to administer once every 6 weeks, but not best suited to the patients consistent well being.. IMO, there is a better way, but it might involve self administration of a much more frequent dosing schedule...

Your GP is following the recommended guidelines on the data sheet, but its my belief the results have been misrepresented to better suit GP convenience, not patient..!!

Unfortunately you're very unlikely to be able to get your endocrinologist to agree to anything else. NICE guidelines don't allow for self-administration, which is what you'd need for a more frequent injection protocol. And talking sense to most medical professionals is usually a waste of time.

Given that, you'll probably start to feel the benefits from your treatment within the first week or two, and also feel it wearing off a few weeks after. Hopefully they'll agree to give you the injection every 8 weeks.
