Just finished watching "The Wire"'

snoop got a book out , 'grace before midnight,
twas a good read
she was a crosseyed crack baby , they couldnt even feed her with a bottle
they needed a medicine dropper she was so small

she got some good stories

you know wats funny to me

that so many people who is all upper class, suburb type , 'normal' folks..not even drug users, but ppl who would never consider doin a drug, who would call the cops if they found a junkie shooting up in a stall in the bathroom and accidently opened the door, will watch the wire and think its so great

the concept is "great", its so dramatic and "real" and its such a good show but yet the real life of all that is somethin they would want "out of my neighborhood!" if they found out there was some drug dealer from the hood moving in to their suburb....They identify with the characters and think oh so and so is so great, awesome character, all that but yet in real life they scorn the drug dealer without a ged or the corner hustler or the junkie who uses it....I dont get it.

when u bring certain ideas to the public it makes them think they so 'down' and cool with it, but they only like the fantasy version...its so pathetic seeing people who watch it and think its so amazing but they would look down on all the people and situations tht the show portrays, if it was there in their real life....it creates hypocrites

I hope it isn't that bad phrost, any other Baltimore heads with a general opinion on the state of the Baltimore open-air trade/game...no specifics, of course? I've heard conflicting opinions from various web-sites, but most seem to think the trade/open-air dealing is just a prevelant as ever, just moved around a bit. You'd know a hell of a lot more than I do, as I've only been to Baltimore a few times, but I was hoping it was still a heroin mecca given the rate of addiction in the city, and its general repuation. So, are the corner boys still out in force, and just offering bunk shit? Or have the cops truly shut down a good chunk of the game?

I'll be attending school in the city come July, so of course I'm hoping the scene is similar to Chicago's...then again, if it 'aint, I may get more studying done....goodnight all...emjoy the weekend...

and re: "The Wire"...loved season 1 and the first with Marlo, some of the best TV ever, the other seasons? Just a meh, I watched because Omar was a GREAT character, but didn't enjoy those seasons nearly as much. Anyone else agree?

Well, going from personal experience. I know for a fact that a lot of the popular corner shops that had GOOD reputations are simply shut down now.. like.. dustball in the wind type-of-deal. A lot of the trade is done through phones now... especially if you're from the suburbs. The city of Baltimore itself has less than a million people but the suburbs, like Baltimore County, have millions and they all go into the city to cop their dope. If you're black and live in the city (which is like 70% black) you're almost automatically ingrained into the game somehow as it is. You pretty much have to know someone that doesn't live by the law... and if you so happen to choose so, you can make connects. White people rarely get killed in Baltimore.

white folks rarely get killed in chicago too..they know a dead white person will really bring the heat on them and they dont want that..`that doesnt mean they dont get robbed every now and then..but if your a white person in the hood, the black folk know why your there and are mostly about business..

Yea.. The Wire was definitely ultra-realistic for that time period.. it's amazing how much the game has changed since 2000-2005 or whatever. My favorite part however was definitely the very last episode.. which had the montage while McKnolty was standing on the side of i-83 just looking over the city.

Instant classic! Amazing how each season was different, yet so tied together. Have watched it over and over and over. Wore out comcast on-demand.

Ive watched every episode 3 times now and have recently started again just to rewatch em cause that show is fucking badass
