Dory, Chadd does make a valid point. Detox/rehabs vary widely in the quality of care given. You wrote in your first post that your daughter is looking for another rehab hospital. Please have her question them thoroughly as to what exactly is the type of care she will be given, what type of medications are used and will she be sent home with a continuation of the medications needed to keep her comfortable enough so she does not relapse.
After going cold turkey in 2013, from opiates and very low dose of benzos, I cannot imagine being in a hospital or a center that did not provide privacy, well educated addiction professionals, and a psychiatrist specializing in addiction and being certified in suboxone treatment. I was in my own home, and utilizing much information and support found online on recovery based forums, I was able to detox in the comfort of my own home. I had my private bathroom, which is very much needed, the ability to take as many showers and baths as I wanted, and I could wash my sheets and jammies. Detoxing is not at all a dignified process.
T. Calderone is right about the clonidine. I did make a run to an ER close to my home, as my blood pressure spiked when my adrenal glands began to function again, and I paid over $200.00 for a clonidine patch, all told. ( I could have avoided the high cost if I had been honest with my primary care doctor and asked him for the clonidine). It immediately lowered my blood pressure to normal, calmed me down, allowed me to get some much needed sleep, and I was back at my full time job 5 days later. So, if she had the clonidine, which she could get at her primary care physician or a local urgent care, and did some basic research here on BL on our withdrawal mega threads, and posted in our Sober Living section, she would be able to make good choices around her treatment preferences.
