"Hard" drugs are just the drugs you haven't tried yet
WADSWORTH: I'd show her Ecstasy Rising on Youtube if she's up for it (yes, I know I reference that documentary a lot
). Erowid is a great source without bias too.
You can't really convince people of something when they're stubborn and they've made up their mind. I remember, when I worked as a drug counselor in Hollywood, one of my tweaker (meth user) clients said he wouldn't talk to a girl anymore because she was on heroin- in his eyes, heroin was dark and evil, and meth wasn't that big of a deal. People tend to consider their drugs of choice OK, and anything else to be "hardcore" and frightening. We tend to fear what we don't know in general.
Drug dealers don't become drug dealers after taking a learning annex (LOL) course, or having to really do much other than be connected and willing to sell drugs. Handling drugs, meeting briefly with their users- none of that necessarily leads to more education about the drug.
I'm good friends with our main connect- I've made him dinner, he's slept at our house, rolled with us, had hug festivals with me and my boyfriend....he STILL calls us up about great pills he has, and when we get over to test them we STILL discover they're pipes/other sometimes, not because he's a bad friend, because he doesn't know. He gets a few good text message reviews from people, and that's his method of "testing".
Illegal drugs are something very few people know much about at all, I think Dr.s may be the worst people to ask. I've actually heard a doctor state that "Ecstasy" is a pill that's half heroin and half speed, I've heard that it's also crystal meth in a pill, I've heard that it causes Parkinsons, holes in the brain- the same crap you would hear from an old lady on the bus.
