Bluelighter
Hello all! Just thought I'd drop by and see how things are going in the wonderful land of bluelight. Not much has changed...although I see that there are a couple of new forums for us Aussies now. And there are so many people from the main discussion who are popping their heads into our little part of the world. Cool
I'm here in a town called Moab which is in Utah....in the middle of the desert. It's apparantly the mountain biking capital of the world. Which I believe with all the bikes and outdoorsy healthy type people running around - something I'm just not used to
I'm still on my tour through the west of the US. Been all the way up the north Pacific coast to Seattle now working our way down through the inland desert through Las Vegas to LA. I've been on 6 hour hikes up large steep mountains and waterfalls, hired snow shoes and hiked in 3 foot snow drifts at 6000 feet (almost the same height above sea level as Mt Kosiosko), camped in rain at 0 degree temperatures, hooned around on dune buggies over very large sand dunes at 80km/hr, hugged huge redwood trees, mountain biked like a maniac for 13 miles down very cool trails, gone white water rafting in freezing water, seen a grizzly bear with her cubs at close range, been turned away from every bar in Seattle cause I didn't have my passprt with me and very drunkenly told every doorman how much better the bars and door regs are in Sydney, taken 12 rolls of film, danced to very funky authentic San Fransisco house music in a club which is best described as a 'home'-sized club 77 (very cool
), met Motab, richierich, W33ku whatever, cagirl, halo, pyro, spencer, viol8r, beanqueen, liquidocean and anyone else I've forgotten....and I've done all of this WITHOUT ANY DRUGS!!!!! Yes thats right folks. Not a single illegal substance has entered my body for 3 weeks now. That for me is one amazing feat. Another week to go *quiver* *twitch*
Mind you, we are in the American desert. I'm going to be staying on a 'cowboy ranch' on which American Indians work. Navajo Indians have a bit of a thing for something called peyote cactus. I'm going to be trying some for myself
There's also ephedra growing naturally all around me. I'm going to be making some into tea.
All is not lost hee hee
I still have the Grand Canyon (including a helicopter flight), Las Vegas, horseback riding, and more hiking to go before I end my tour in LA on May 26th. Then I'm on a 7am flight the next day to New Orleans to spend the memorial Day long weekend with BeanQueen. I do believe that copious amounts of drugs will be consumed....just as a reward for being sober for a whole month! There's a rave on there called Freakfest 2000 which has my name written all over it
Apparently Art of Trance and Union Jack are playing....which means after missing them in Sydney at 'home' in March I finally get to see them.
Now that I hope I've made you all very jealous
I have to go and write some long overdue emails. I'll pop my head in again to give you a trip report on the peyote next time I'm in front of a computer.
