Jon Ronson On ... Voices In The Head

I though TDS may appreciate this, be it from a voice-hearer's perspective, a Psychiatric perspective or just those who would like an insight into that world.
Well, yes... It's a podcast about hearing voices.

It includes the comedienne Josie Long briefly, a patient who started hearing a voice narrate her actions in the 3rd person who then goes into treatment only for her voices to multiply, become more aggressive, worsen and to start experiencing visual hallucinations, and "Patient A" who's voices warned her of a brain tumour and then left when a CT scan had discovered the tumour by saying "We're glad to have helped you - Goodbye".
Also a talk with Rufus May who I know due to him treating good friends (he also took part in the Ch4 documentary "The Doctor Who Hears Voices" which I would also recommend) and is a very good Psychiatrist who uses "Anti-Psychiatry" methods to great positive effect.

A seriously, seriously interesting program and I'm very glad I listened to it :)
I hope those who choose to listen enjoy it also.

p.s. If it's inappropriate then close as deemed fit :)

Thank you for posting this. It is very interesting. I experienced this as a teenager and into my twenties. There is a lot of misconception about what it is and what it means and I am glad that things are changing. It is so important for people with any kind of mental health issues to see themselves as capable people that can learn about their symptoms and manage them, with the help of psychiatrists and other kinds of practitioners, rather than as clueless victims with no say.

Thank you for sharing this monsta - I've not got a chance to listen now, but I certainly will! :) <3

Mental illness is sadly still so stigmatised - things are moving in the right direction, but anything we can do to help break down the barriers further is fantastic!

You're both quite welcome :)~<3
Hope it's enjoyed.

Yes it is indeed, though I hope that these few people practicing techniques like this will have a greater impact on not just the "general public's view" on people with these conditions, but the treatment too.
It worked extremely well for the Doctor in that documentary :)
