I want to find out if I am guilty of perpetuating an urban myth. Its concerning the jaw wobble effect that xtc sometimes gives you . Now I don't know where I got the information from but I have always said 'I like it when that happens because only real MDMA has that effect'
Is this correct?
This question springs to mind as I sit here jaw going bonkers at 1 pm Sunday afternoon after a night at acid reign and two orange ck's and a superman , so if this post is a little scrambled please forgive. I would also like to take this moment to say how much I enjoy reading and participating in this wonderful little websight my life has certainly been enriched by its presence so to all the bluelighters out there thanks!

er quick answer: jaw wobbles no (happens with a few amphetamines) eye wiggles yes (fairly unique to MDMA). here's a quote from that fanatastic lecture by Dr Julie Holland...
Jaw clenching, tooth grinding, also known as bruxism or trismus is common at higher doses, which is also a common side effect of amphetamine use. Abnormal eye movements, little eye wiggles reminiscent of Rapid Eye Movements or nystagmus, are usually only seen at the peak of the MDMA experience. It is one way to tell if people have taken pure MDMA or not, because it is not a common side effect of other stimulants. Also seen sometimes are uncontrolled rolling eye movements where the eyes roll around, sometimes towards the back of the head. It is possible that one of the slang terms of taking ecstasy called "rolling" comes from this phenomenon.

also i highly recommend everyone, who hasnt already, listen to the RealAudio recording of the lecture. there are many details in it that are left out of the written transcript...

Well good question, I was wondering the same thing Flip. It was the first time I have actually had shaky eyes on the weekend, as well as a vibrating and clenching jaw. Normally I would just get the clenching jaw and vibrations but I had all the effects this time from a Superman on the weekend and let me say, what a damn good pill it was too. It's in pillreports.com if anyone is wondering. Yeah, well I think Johnboy just answered our question, now we know.

Thanks JB, its not the clenching I am reffering to but that weird 'my jaw has a life of its own shudder' that I only seem to get off MDMA.

flip: do you get this thing where your bottom lip mysteriously sticks out. your jaw just goes nuts unless yoiu hold it. I found I got this from the green CU's. very strange indeed!!

I get that too, flip. For some reason I seem to be able to let my jaw go more than most... just let it do its own thing & it almost falls off! I even get them going the day after now.

I know what you mean Horsie it has happen to me few times and it happened on saturday night when my lower jaw stuck right out then snapped back almost locking over my top teeth, it hurt like hell and I actually thought for a second I had ripped my teeth out, luckily I was peaking my head off at the time so got over quickily but I was very wary over the rest of the night of what my jaw was up to . But then also I did have a large amount of MDMA in my system at the time (2 orange ck's and a superman over a four hour period) which might explain this extreme behaviour.
