See the first three parts of the story in order... jason's tormentors, Jason's revenge, Jason's suicide...if anybody is even reading these : )
Jason's Redemption
By Eric West
Everything was black. Without any reference Jason had no idea how long this darkness lasted. The lack of sensation was relieving, for the first time in years Jason was at peace. The thoughts that tumbled through his mind like ninja stars, rending and grating, were not present.
An image formed slowly in Jason's mind. It grew tentatively, as if testing him to see if he was ready for it. Eventually what was blurry came in to focus and Jason realized the scene was of him being beaten. It had happened so many times that he could not remember the particular event but he definitely recognized the boy's faces. Those same cruel grins on their faces as they hit him and made him cry.
Jason watched himself tumble to the ground in tears. As the other kids dispersed his focus remained with them, and left himself lying in the dirt. He tried to turn back to himself, but when he couldn't he knew this was something outside of his control.
The boys were walking home from school and split up after a block or so. Jason was stuck following the one he had hated the most. The one named Kenny.
Kenny was the leader of the gang that tormented him. Jason's vision followed Kenny into his house. His dad sat on the couch, "Kenny, did you bring your report card home?"
"No Dad, those don't go out until next week."
"That's bullshit Kenny. I called your teacher. They went out today. But you don't have to show me. I heard about your terrible grades."
"Dad, I got A's. I did."
"LIAR!!!", he roared, "One of those grades was a B and another was a C. Only losers make C's. A C Kenny? What kind of fucking idiot are you?"
"Dad, those classes are really hard."
"The teacher said a boy named Jason got all A's"
"Jason always gets A's. He's a lot smarter than me. I can't keep up with him."
"Well your gonna have to fucking figure out how to. Now come here!"
Jason watched as Kenny shrank away from his father and cringed in the corner. Kenny's father slammed him against the wall and then slapped him hard. Kenny was crying by this point.
"Only babies and bitches cry. Son, are you a baby or a bitch?" He hit him again, this time punching him in the stomach.
Jason's vision faded away as Kenny fell to the floor.
A new image formed and he realized it was Ashley sitting on her bed. There was an older boy in there, probably about eighteen or nineteen. Ashley was talking on the phone, "Jason, I'm sorry I really can't talk right now.....Why?.. I just can't, I'm sorry."
The older boy spoke, "Whose Jason?"
"He's just this guy. He's really harmless."
"Well if he calls here again I'll kick his ass."
"God Bill, we're just friends."
"Well I don't want you talking to him anymore."
"But Bill... He's nice, I don't want to hurt his feelings or anything."
"Well Ashley its his feelings or me," he turned away from her, angry.
"You can't leave me Bill, I'm pregnant."
The scene faded away and Jason was again left in the dark for a second. Before he had time to be overwhelmed by what he was just shown a torrent of images flooded before him. Family and friends of the people he had killed. Some in mourning, some going insane. He watched as that quiz bowl girl's little brother asked her mommy when Karen was coming home. He witnessed the math teacher's wife hearing the news on the radio and having a heart attack because of the shock.
The suffering he had caused washed through him, he was recieving the reciprocal of his actions in full.
Jason wept.
He heard a voice, it sounded very distant.
It called again, he could hear it this time, "Jason, its ok."
He opened his eyes and wiped the tears from them. He was lying in a sea of grass. The sun shone down and the crystal blue of the sky was not tainted by a single cloud. A soft wind rustled the grass.
He stood up and suddenly felt very small. The grass was taller than he was. Jason glanced down at his legs and realized he was very young again. Maybe eight or nine years old. For a second he forgot everything but the joy of the sun and the grass. Then it all swept back through him and he fell to the ground crying again.
The voice called to him again, this time like it was very close, "Jason, Its ok." The voice was gentle like rain falling through the leaves on a drizzly afternoon.
He looked around but couldn't see anyone, "Where are you?"
"Where I've always been."
As the voice spoke Jason felt hands touching him and strong, safe arms holding him close. Jason cried and the owner of the voice rocked him back and forth.
He sobbed until no more tears could come, then he waited a minute and sobbed some more. Finally everything was emptied of him and he was emotionless. He looked up into the most beautiful face he had ever seen in his life. It was feminine yet strong, masculine yet tender. Features perfect and glowing, bathing him in soft, white light.
His voice was shaky as he asked, "Who are you?"
"I am the sun and the grass, the rain and mud. I'm the stars and the emptiness between them. I am you and Ashley and Kenny and Karen. I am every boy and girl and man and woman. I am everything that is, or was or ever shall be. I'm everything that hasn't been, isn't and won't be."
Jason trembled as he realized who was holding him. A tear fell from that beautiful face and wet his forehead.
"Why are you crying?" he asked.
"Because it didn't have to be this way for you."
"What do you mean?" Jason's question brought a gentle smile to her face.
A kiss was planted on his small hand. Instantly he was swept away, observing another scene. At first he was frightened but then he realized that God was still there, holding him.
"Watch," he was told.
A man came into the room and sat down at the desk. Jason realized that they looked very similar. He even had that scar Jason got the time Kenny hit him with a rock.
The man shuffled through a few papers and then children began filing into the room. The man began to teach. It was an advanced course, set up to so the children could work at their own pace. A woman came into the room and asked him if he would come out into the hall. She was really pretty.
"Its really amazing what your doing with those children. They've all come from abusive homes, some of them weren't even speaking six months ago. I have to admit I had my doubts about your program but its really worked out well. I came down here to offer you a permanent position here on the staff," the pretty lady smiled as she spoke.
The man who looked like Jason responded, "Well, the program works because I care so much about them. And about your offer, I think I'd like that. Now I want to make you an offer."
"Oh yeah, what's that?"
"Dinner and a movie?" he smiled warmly at her as he asked.
"I think I'd like that. Call me later ok?"
"Ok"
The scene faded gently and Jason was once again back in the grassy field. "That's what you could have had Jason," God smiled at him but the tears were falling from his eyes.
Jason began crying, his tears and God's mixing in the dust beneath them. "And its too late for that now, isn't it? I've ruined it, for me, for those kids, for all those people I killed and hurt."
"Jason, its ok. You made choices. When you experienced all the suffering you caused you took responsiblity for those choices. Now your free to choose again."
"I can choose again?"
"You can always choose again Jason."
"I want to choose again God. I want to help people, and love people and heal people who have suffered. I want to go back, but I want to remember this. I want to remember it all."
"Jason, you can go back but you can't remember. Life won't work that way. But you will be able to make new choices."
"Will I be Jason again?"
"You can be a Jason if you want too, but you won't live the same life you just left. That life is over."
"Ok, will you be there to help me make my choices?"
"I'm with you in all your choices Jason. I'm always there."
"I'm ready to choose again God."
"I love you Jason."
"I love you too God."
Jason vanished from the grassy field. Somewhere in the universe, inside a woman's uterus, a baby's heat beat for the very first time.

If you only had one brain cell, technically you'd be the smartest man on earth. But mine would run on rechargable batteries. That way when I run out of energy, I can just refill it!
