nutty didn't know he had a warrant when he made the comment, neither did I. I was basing it off our knowledge at the time. Him saying suspect isn't as big a deal as this idea that cops get a pass for shooting people because they've disobeyed an order, or they've broken a law, or they're attempting to escape.
Again, NOBODY has said cops get a pass. Has ANY cop been given a pass in the last several years? No. They are all immediately suspended and investigation is held to see if it is a justified shooting. Folks may not like the outcome of such investigations, but they are done. Every time.
The default fucking choice for cops when dealing with black people shouldn't be to shoot them. There's several other ways to deal with a situation to minimize harm to everyone involved.
They didn't even attempt to bring him down before they got to the car! Taser? Baton? Fucking shoot the tires out so he can't get away. You know SOMETHING other than shooting him seven god damned times in the back.
It's not the default choice, as evidenced by the facts. In 2019, there were 1,300 blacks killed by cops. In 2015, there were 6,146,400 police-public contacts for the black population. Assuming cops kill, on average, 1k people per year, that's working out to 1/6146.4 which is about 1.63e-5 (0.0000163) % of the time.
Again, more evidence comes forward if we give it time. This is a shitty video from a distance, but you can even tell in the original across-the-street video the suspect was on the ground initially (not held down) on the passenger side of the car before he got up and walked around the front of the vehicle (shit source, but the KenoshaNews.com won't load) - "He was tazered by a female officer before appearing to attempt to enter his car, with his three children inside." So, um, yeah, it appears they did try other things first.
