Opioids IV'ing oxy. Why does the high feel so unclean and less euphoric compared to dilaudid?

Well, dilaudid has that amazing rush and while oxy doesn't, the high just feels dirty. I don't know how else to explain it. (Keep in mind i'm only comparing the two) I iv'd 60mg oxy and i'm sitting here nodding out but i just don't feel that euphoric and i have nausea (much more than usual).

The only reason i'm asking is because just about all of my opiate-loving friends prefer oxycodone over dilaudid. However they don't shoot it, they only insufflate it. Is dilaudid just alot more euphoric or what? I'm confused why oxy feels so much less intense and fun compared to dilaudid when injected. Is there a reason for this?

Hydromorphone is 20x stronger than oxycodone IV. They both have ~50% nasal B.A. however due to the much smaller mass of hydromorphone going up the nose, more will be lost in the mucus resulting in what is probably a lesser high. This could be why your friends prefer oxycodone for snorting.

The dirty feeling you are describing could be due to your preparation of the shot requiring more liquid or if you are doing it incorrectly more particle matter in the blood stream. Also the increased mass of oxycodone required could result in a greater histamine reaction.

In the end though this is all speculation about what high you prefer and the subjective effects of a recreational drug so there is no straightforward answer. Just keep trading those dillies for your friends OC and everyone will be happy.

Well I don't think anyone would argue that IV oxycodone is shit compares to the rush that IV dilaudid does. Dilaudid is known for having rather short legs though, whereas oxy has rather long ones, but when you IV oxycodone, the high is still pretty short lived (1hour-2max). IMO oxy gives a more euphoric high, but for that reason it's better to just crush them up and parachute them, as you'll still get a high BA, and the high will last longer, from what I've heard (I've actually only done oxy a few times, and it was always IV). Oxymorphone gives the best of both worlds.

ugh and as soon as the oxy high was over it was like i was instantly put into a state of bad withdrawals. aches and pains, puking my guts out, lethargic, no energy. I've only been awake for 11 hours but im about to pass out i feel so exhausted.. and i didn't do anything physically exerting today. ugh. oxy sucks.

It sounds like you did too small of a dose, though I'm not recommending you go ahead and take a higher dose. I am a Dilaudid fan, and personally I find it to be a very clear-headed buzz as well, so on comparison oxy will feel more "dirty". Oxycodone isn't eliminated at the same rate of D's due to solubility and usually the more soluble a drug, the faster it goes in and out of the body, probably lending to the rapid onset and 'rush' of the drug. Also it would seem less fun to do oxy because it's less euphoric, the reason for that is your body being used to how intense hydromorphone (Dilaudid) is.

I am curious, did you do a conversion so you took an equivalent dose as your usual Dilaudid dose? Just because you are nodding doesn't mean it was the same, as I find Dilaudid to not make you nod until higher doses, plus it feels more clear-headed to begin with. So, if the doses aren't the same, then that would also be a reason it doesn't feel as good.

Also, you asked why it is less powerful to IV oxy, there is another reason for this. Oxycodone's high oral bioavailability would make it seem like it's not potent when IV'ed in comparison to taken orally. This is so simply to do with the numbers. The difference in the amount you absorb is only 30%, since you absorb a low end guess of 70% of the dose already when you eat it, that change in amount is not much. Especially when compared to the difference in Dilaudid's change of roughly 60%, since you only absorb about 30% orally and of course IV is 100% absorbtion, thus making it feel intense when compared with itself taken by mouth.

^ This.

I find the IV experiences somewhat comparable, both feel euphoric and synthetic....the thing is though 240 mg's of Oxycodone IV still isn't as intense as 24 mg's of Hydromorphone. But they both have the same "feel"....I always thought dilaudid felt like a mixture of IV Oxy and IV morphine, The clean cool head rush of oxy, with the body load of morphine.
