Hydromorphone's should be heated until the liquid is clear. Some brands completely dissolve and cook up 100% clear, while some leave a residue on the spoon, but ALL Hydromorphones cook up into clear liquid. Also, Hydromorphone when cooked is a thick liquid, if you let it cool too much before drawing up into syringe, you will see a "skin" start to form on the solution and it must be re-heated before shooting. Even at it's optimum consistancy, the more Dilaudids you crush and cook, whether it be 4mg or 8mg (I get the 8mg), I have found 5 pills is about the limit, and 6 is pushing it but can be done, as any more than this, the solution after cooking is too syrupy and is very difficult to "plunge" into the vein. It feels like you are meeting TONS of resistance in your vein, however it is the thickness of the solution.
As for MSContin, you CANNOT put heat to these as they "gel" up almost instantly, as if they werent "gelled" enough when adding cold water. The "gel" that users talk of is actually a wax binder that slows absorption once swallowed as to not allow all of the medicine to be absorbed by the body at once. I read that a cold water extraction method is best for MSContin but everything I have read advises against IV'ing, due to the almost certainty that some of the wax binders will enter the syringe AND your veins. An article I read about repeated IV'ing of MSContins can lead to some pretty serious long term damage to the circulatory system. I've shot MSContin a few times, trust me out of desperation, and the very little "rush" that I got wasn't worth the effort. I had to actually "concentrate" to feel the 5 second "rush" if you want to call it a "rush". Just snort the MSContins to be safe and get the most out of them, but definately SHOOT the Dilaudids! BE CAREFUL whatever you deciide to do....
