Opioids IV hydromorphone dosage

Hey, so I wanted to confirm this here to see if my dosage plan makes sense.

My dose for intranasal hydromorphone is 14mg. I read that that hydromophone's IN bioavailability is 52%-58%.

I am going to IV it later and the person fixing me isn't going to want to poke me 3-4 times as I find the perfect dosage. I figured the appropriate dose to IV based on my intranasal tolerance would be 7mg. I think this way I would get a good idea of what the rush is like from IV hydromorphone and if I want to nod/buzz harder then I could snort 1mg-2mg bumps.

Sound like a sufficient plan?

I'd lower it a bit more. Just to be safe. You can always do more. Never less. And BA #'s are a range, usually wider than you indicated, and different for everyone.

You will be safe IVing 7 mg. I have IVed 16 mg with no tolerance before, which is quite a hefty amount and it gave me a heavy nod but not OD territory.

Also, the rush with IV hydromorphine is weird and not dose dependent like heroin. You can get a very strong rush from IVing as little as 2 mg and increasing the amount does not increase the rush proportionally. Yes, IVing 8 mg will give you a stronger rush than 2 mg but nowhere near 4 times stronger, whereas if you increase your amount of heroin 4x you get about 4x the rush.

Personally, I do not like hydromorphone very much. Yes, it has a killer rush but for me that rush is vastly inferior to the rush I get from heroin. The heroin rush is more of a happy feeling. Heroin is just so much better than hydromorphone, for me.

OP 14mg of intranasal hydromorphone ain't shit. However, 7mg IV hydromorphone is A LOT! Dilaudid is very weak orally and pretty weak when insufflated. Yet very, very small doses IV can and will totally blow your mind. You can sniff 40mg of Dilaudid and be completely unprepared for the rush you get from 2mg IV (which is probably where you should start). IV Dilaudid can be downright scary. The first time I shot Dilaudid I was taking about 160mg of Oxycodone daily, swallowed and insufflated, yet the D rush from 4mg made me think I was going to die for about five minutes. IV Dilaudid is an unbelievably euphoric rush but if you can get high by sniffing 14mg it will probably scare you and make you vomit.

To be on the safe side I would try 4mg to start. I cant say you would be OK doing 7-8mgs in a shot however; to be on the safe side and in the spirit of HR as the IN BA varies so much its better to start low.

ok so i love me some IV dilaudid.

i have tried to do 8mgs in one shot and i ended up falling out for 2hrs, what a waste!! i didnt even remember the awesome rush

all i want from IV hydromorphone is the rush, i dont really care about what comes after. so i do 4-10 shots of 2-4mgs (depending on how much i have in my stash)

IV dialudid is very very potent!! i would compare 4mgs IV to .4-.5g of fire heroin. i like hydrmoorphone IV better than IV heroin because the rush is teh shit. heroin has best of both worlds, after the rush you get a nice long high. but.....i see the only point of IVing shit is for the rush..

I used opiates for 5 years and was off for 2 years. I've only been on them for 6 days and leave for treatment in a week. I think effect wise I will be completely fine handling the "OH SHIT AM I GOING TO DIE" feelings. That's half the fun. What I am asking for dosage wise, is that a correct way to do the calculations? IN is 52-58 and I reduced it to 50% to be on the safe side.

Based on the comments I might just go with 6mg to be safe in the spirit of harm reduction. Also telling someone that you IV'd 16mg of hydromophone with no tolerance is incredibly irresponsible and it's a good thing you are saying that to someone who has five years of daily addiction under his belt to know how dangerous that would be for someone with little to no tolerance.


It's interesting you make that comment about the rush differing though. I wonder why that is? Anyone has any guesses to what makes hydromorphone unique that way?

14mg IV Hydromorphone is a large dose, and IV dosage of it is only slightly lower then insuffilation. Be careful.

IV dose is A LOT lower. It's at best 60% nasal bioavailability. That's at least a 40% increase with IV.

IV hydromorphone is very powerful. You should cut your snorting dose down more like 75% for IV rather than just cutting it in half.

Also look into using a micron filter as shooting pills is incredibly bad for you and your veins.

I did not say that I injected 16mg with no tolerance. Reread my post. I've never injected that much. I said that I had a habit of around 160mg of Oxycodone per day, indicating that I had a relatively decent opiate tolerance, yet was floored by 4mg and was suggesting that perhaps you should start lower for your first injection. I don't care how big your dick is or how long you did opiates, I simply wanted to suggest that you dose low for your initial injection so that your experience is as safe and as enjoyable as possible.
