IV Dilaudid was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced but for the first minute before the rush came on I felt like I was having a heart attack. Anyone else experience that? What caused that I wonder?

I was in the hospital a while ago and they had me on 4mg of Dilaudid ever 4 hours. I was there for almost 2 weeks. No matter what was on the television...the show was absolutely amazing. :) I set my phone to wake me up in the middle of the night so that I wouldn't miss a dose.

I felt like I was in the womb.

BTW, no idea what would cause that feeling for you.

Had you ever been on it before? Maybe that endorphin rush hit ya' like a ton of bricks.

i get the same thing from dilaudid but not other opioid drugs i inject i say this because at first i also thought it was just anxiety

When I used to take a big enough shot of dilaudid, it would feel as if my heart kind of skipped a beat or stopped for a second as the overwhelming rush knocked me back against the wall. It was one of the things I loved about it...

I personally think it's the best stuff ever made.

^ This

I was in the hospital last week for a broken foot and I was having a lot of anxiety (like always) and after they gave me a nice fat shot of dilaudid the anxiety went away instantly as the rush flooded over me.

It really could of been any number of things honestly. It could just be the way your body reacts when the drug is first introduced into it. You may have also been doing a little too much and you were feeling your body trying to essentially stabilize. There's a lot of variables that come into play with something like this that makes it hard to give a definitive answer. I know that I, personally, get a different feeling from hydromorph then any other IV drug I've ever been given (I've only ever had IV in a hospital setting) so you could be feeling it a little bit more intensely when your blood vessels dilate. I will say I just got out of the hospital on thanksgiving after a week long stay and the only thing I miss is my hourly hydromorph shot haha.

The rush is nice. It's my only iv experience and it was in the hospital. I was recovering from concussion tho so it wasn't as good as it could have been. Also promethazine iv with it... Lovely,

Its not just "pain medicine"...it gives some people one of the best fucking feelings in the world lool...thats why he set his phone off to get his dose, why else.

Tried it IV 8 mg. for the first time on Thanksgiving. Totally underwhelmed and only tollerance was oral percs and norcos. 4mg SC years ago with zero opiate experience laid me right out. IDK opiates are like that with me...but no way should it have hit me that soft. Snorted another 8 the night before, was nothing either
