Heroin IV complication

I searched for the latest megathread but couldn't find it. Apologies.

I was having a dig (#3 + Vit C) about half an hour ago and I thought I'd hit a vein in the side of my wrist so I started plunging (possibly ~.5ml). I immediately felt intense pain (like a bad miss) and the side of my hand and wrist went completely numb, with blotchy skin that looked like a histamine reaction. The numbness and blotchiness have now gone, there's just a bit of tenderness at the site. At no point was there any swelling.

Any ideas? Given the site I was worried it may have been an artery, but, given the minute amount injected there, should I be concerned?

To your main question, I do not have enough XP to give you reliable information in regards to your health related to IV, but I am curious to as what is #3?

It caught my attention as #3 instantly brings to mind codeine, but like myself somebody who IV's their DOC is already aware of what not to do with codeine. Hope everything is ok with you.

It refers to base heroin (hence the vit c - ascorbic acid - to dissolve it) as opposed to heroin salts (#4). ...Or at least that's how I understand it.

You'll be fine, the site will be irritated and tender but as long as you stopped once you felt the universal abort signal of pain you'll be ok.

That shit happens to me all the time. I used to think I was hitting arteries, and got confused between that and histamine reactions. It's literally like having molten lava poured under your skin. However I've started taking benadryl most days. It's not happened since. I know that I definately HAVE hit arteries because the blood will pulse out, but the confusion came when I'd use a typical site, just as usual and effing ouch..... I swear even if I was in the depths of a rattle there is no way on earth I could carry on injecting. Like literally a nano second of pushing causes the most intense pain.. Benadryl my friend.. try that.
Should also mention that it's never caused any other problem other than what you described.. the blotchy skin ect, but that soon goes, as you said-half hour all seems normal again. I've never had any ill effects afterwards.

I'm no expert by any means, but I believe that if you hit an artery the blood will come back into the syringe somewhat, if not in the syringe then it would squirt I think from the injection site.. Vascular system has ALOT of pressure, people don't often realize that. I wouldn't think you hit an artery unless you experienced one of those reactions.. I may be wrong, so research this yourself before adhering to any one opinion.

It could be a miss or hitting a nerve. Hitting a nerve usually feels kind of like like a hot painful electric shock and the area swells up a lot. If the symptoms improve within 24 hours then it should be fine.

I suspect you missed next to a nerve and the pressure created by the liquid compressed the nerve temporarily. You could also have hit a tendon, especially the part close to where it attaches. The wrist has very close architecture and it's easy to make mistakes. Glad it's better.

i know theres a spot sortof slightly on the side of my wrist i thought was a vein, stuck the needle in and it burned like all hell... i assumed it was an artery and have steared clear since
