Hello everybody first post here. I have been using heroin or other various opiates for the past 2 and a half years almost daily. Went through a period where I was prescribed suboxone for 3 months until my insurance decided not to cover it any longer which led me to begin IV heroin for money reason ie. Cheaper, longer high etc. I've been using IV Heroin daily now for about 6-7 months anywhere from .2 to 1 gram of mid grade black tar. This has caused a devastation to my family's finances and is beginning to destroy my relationship with my wife and daughter to the point that my wife has given me the ultimate, "stop the heroin or we are leaving". It's easier said than done is what I tell her, but she doesn't give a shit nor should she. I work a full time laborous job at the railroad on a graveyard shift and the thought of working through full on cold turkey withdrawals mortifies me. But its time, I have no other option. So I'm here on these boards looking for a glimmer of hope, some tips/advice or just some reassuring words or your experiences. Basically I'm in need of a helping hand. Anything that will make the withdrawal any easier? I have one half of suboxone I've been hanging on to that may or may not help..im a lost soul looking for help. Thank you in advance.

You'll find a way through this. First of all, you have to be completely honest with your wife.

The suboxone will help space it out , dont take it all at once and maybe you can get to a place where the wd will be "bearable ".

Can u use vacation time? That might help. The link above is a good one. I'm still repairing my damages.... it takes patience.... n even tho u might feel as tho they should cut u slack after I've made this exhausting hard and painful decision . N that ur trying your hardest to fix things understand where they where when this was happening even if they can not fully understand where you are now.... best wishes to you....

Having been through it myself a couple of times, I know how you feel. I would suggest giving kratom a try. I use it, and it does keep withdrawal symptoms at bay for me. I use it when taking a break from script pain meds. There is lots of info on kratom available online and probably right on this site. I'm new here too so I have not done a lot of research here.

Good luck!

Good luck man, we all hit the wall at some point if you love your wife, daughter and the life you once had it will be worth every second of the WD's. I'm with you go for it.

Can you maybe get morphine sulfate (E.xtendedR.elease) (Kadian, Substitol) capsules with tiny pebbles of morphine sulf. inside. The transition from H is very easy and they are great for tapering and you dont get high per se.
You just open em up and if youre feeling w/ds ..you take a tiny dose of those pebbles(takes an hour at least). Or make your own schedule. Once it builds a bit in your system it lasts a day. I always found it easy to get down to almost nothing from where its much easier to go cold turkey.

Throw the subozone out and just dive head on in to this shyt. I've been there full withdrawal while having to jack hammer and dig holes for hours. Luckily i knew I just had to wait until after work to get well. BUT I've down full DTS cold turkey from IV dope and I feel for you hardcore i do.

The BEST YOU CAN DO is something like take your last dose wednesday morning. So Thursday morning will come Nd itll have been 24hrs. GO TO WORK on Thursday suck it up 1 day. Call out Friday morning and rest up FRI SAT SUN. You'll get through the worst of it abd get some benzos for the longgggggg weeks of insomnia and RSL. That was the worst for me. The insomnia falling asleep for 2 hours wKing up with horrible leg pain RSL and body aches from not sleeping!!!?!? Like wot in the fukkk its hardbody shytty

ORRRR scratch everything I said and try and take 1mg of suboxone every 24hrs or something which may end up helping you drastically but still you will im for some misery.

Sorry im all over the place I just know it sucks and am throwing out anything I think of to u, but you know you best.

ADDICTS like myself don't like to hear that a lot of it is mental. But honestly a lot is.

That's not a terrible idea actually. I get 150mg's of morphine SR's a day and I've had the MScontin generics, M-Esslons and Kadians. I would say avoid the Kadians if you plan on using them any other way then orally because they do have talc in them. They are easy to taper with orally especially if you can get the 30's and taper with those. But you can always split the dose anyway.

Or you can follow one of the opiate withdrawal survival guides. Mine usually involves anti-nausea drugs. a benzo to help you calm down, gabapentin or lyrica to help the RLS, codeine or another weaker opiate to help wd if there otc in your area or you can get them easy, Lopermide helps some people but keep the dose sane,

I'll say the sickness is not really what get's to you. It's that feeling that can only be described as the PAWS after you kick that tends to cause relapse in alot of people.

No idea what your program situation is in the USA - in Australia we have good healthcare - so EVERYONE can go on affordable suboxone/methadone programs if they wish - immediately (within 24hours of making the decision). If this is an option to you, givent he length and severity of your habit I think this is your best chance; mygiants advice seems a bit useless - it basically amounts to 'just stop taking it'. Which, if you're working fulltime and your job is on the line, is not really an option - you can't be that sick and go to work safely.

If you can't get on the program - you can tape yourself with OTC medication such as codeine, if you can get that - well - it is OTC in Australia anyhow.. Otherwise, somepeople order products online such as Kratom.. At any rate - I suggest you stablise on something that is financially doable and consistent - that stepping stone is how you get your life on track enough that you can actually get off opiates altogether. I'm sure if your wife and daughter saw the difference being on a stable, affordable opiate can make, they will be more inclined to support you through rehabilitation.
