It's Not What You Know...



I'm uncertain just how widely it's known but the UK Acid House music craze was really just members of Throbbing Gristle exploring new types of music. When two 'compilation albums' finally became available, the truth was every single track was one or more member of TG working under an assumed name. For them, the challange was to see if an entirely new music scene could be essentially invented by a handful of people. Turns out the answer was 'yes'.

This piece of classical music is quite likely not to be known by name to many but if you grew up watching Loony Tunes, Merry Melodies and similar cartoon fair, sections of it were used several times. 14.39 especially has been used many, many times but I've also noted several other parts that were to set a mood rather than for the inevitable chase scenes the last bit is used for.
