It may be nothing at all

I'm not sure what this is
It may be poem
It may be a letter
It may be nothing at all
I started to put punctuation in, to begin -
and then stopped
because I realized that/
if I know anything
its that I don't know where this ends/
or even where it began//
I thought I might apologize,
but if I started I might never stop
I thought I might say "love",
but I don't think I know how
The years are very heavy and I/
can't breath through them -
So when you handed me some pills,
held me with your gaze -
well, it seemed there wasn't much else to do
I could start there,
if I thought apologies were the way to go
Or I could say "love", and say that/
I wish we had that kind of freedom grounded
The other day, I told you that I missed you
/and/
it was the most honest thing I'd said in days
Perhaps, then, I'll leave the rest
It can speak for itself, one day,
When the years aren't so heavy/
and your pain, not quite so thick.
