I have been a near-daily user of various pharmaceuticals and other substances for the last year and a bit, and since my normal ROA is insufflation, I would estimate I've put an average of 2 pills, or maybe 300-600mg total of powder, up there every day since I started. The drugs in question have been anything from Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine to Oxycontin, Dilaudid, MS Contin, generic and brand name, as well as ketamine, cocaine, and more.
About eight months ago, after a week-long coke binge where I was doing about a half G a day as well as snorting lots of Ritalin, I noticed my sense of smell was noticeably weakened, maybe 80% of what it used to be. This was a bit concerning, but I kept snorting drugs regularly. Then, maybe four months ago, I noticed that often when I snorted my OC80s (especially while lying on my side in bed) that it seemed like a lot of the powder would fly right through my nasal cavity and hit the back of my throat instantly. When this happens I can taste the bitterness and usually get the urge to cough a few times, because it sort of feels like some of the powder is entering my lungs. This usually happens even when I snort at an angle that would logically fire the powder right at the top of the cavity, and when I snort without much force at all. Basically, I haven't changed my routine at all, but it seems like I could be wearing down the area where powder usually accumulates in my nose and sending a lot of it into my throat area instead.
I know I have a drug problem, that's not the issue here. I'm just wondering whether I could be doing permanent damage to my lungs or nasal cavity and/or whether this is a common issue with heavy users. I have not noticed any chest or nasal discomfort or pain or anything abnormal besides the smell issue, and that's been there for a long time. Thanks for your input.
