Isomers make any difference?

Huh? No I mean, the reason why cannabis produces THC in the way that it does, is so it acts on CB1 receptors, like tobacco produces nicotine to act on insect nicotinic receptors.

Gotcha. I'd always assumed THC was merely one component of plant resin responsible for defense, so never really considered it working on insect cannabinoid receptors. It seems most invertebrates have CB1 receptors, so I guess it's fair to assume Cannabis survival may be attributed - at least in part - to it's production of the more potent trans levo isomer.
 
Well it could be the "attractant" theory.. I don't know... it just seems unlikely that out of 4 isomers, THC makes the high affinity CB1 ligand, unless that is on purpose.
