Is weed adaptogenic?

I'm wondering why cannabis seems to meld with and potentiate pretty much every drug I've ever done? It's like the ultimate adaptogen. Granted, I only have experience using it with psychedelics, but I'd imagine it has applications across many different classes of drug.

If I'm already on something and I find myself asking if a joint is okay, the answer is usually, "Weed is friendly." Are there cases where this isn't true?

^^ I disagree. Weed and ketamine is a blissful combo, I love it. One hit of green completely floors me when I am on K.

I don't like mixing it with amphetamines but its great with everything else, especially psychedelics and opiates.

never been on a drug and thought to myself "man, I really don't need any weed right now".

I think for a lot of people, alcohol (not me, immune to the dreaded spins). I'm surprised this wasn't the first mentioned.

I say Ya of course it will enhance most drugs, I personally find it makes a booze high a little more enjoyable. ACID if you smoke the right amount I think it works in a WONDERFUL way (well if your in the right environment).

For me...
Weed and amphetamines aren't well synergised.
Not that its dangerous, it isn't, I just don't see the point in smoking pot, which is essentially going to chill me out. When I want to be anything but.
BUT
Weed and amphetamine comedown....match made in heaven. Start coming down, start smoking weed, by the time its fully kicked in, I'm nicely high and content.

Subjectively, weed and psychadelics. I never had it on lsd or mushrooms, but with 2c-b, it intensified the experience ten fold. Was uncomfortable.

Weeds just good in the aspect that your pretty safe taking it with most things.

I think this may be due to weed's modulation of neurotransmitters - (the following is what I'm currently thinking about, from my understanding of what I read, so it may be hazy) the cannabinoid receptors themselves may only be 'switches' to other kinds of biochemistry, and presumably, if serotonin or dopamine are already altered through previously used substances then cannabis has the capability to further modulate their release/inhibition. Of course, research would need to be done to get more specific than that...

I personally first observed this after combining it with an entactogen (I know most of you seem to agree that amphetamines aren't well suited - well, what about partial stimulants/psychedelics?) - I think it was, still, on the comedown, but it propelled me into what seemed to be a full-blown relaxed meditative state (I just assumed the position, with virtually no prior practice, and very soon came head-to-head with the absolute 'present'). I thought it was like a psychedelic trip with not necessarily any visuals. Still, how does this happen? It's reasonable to assume that cannabis itself induced that deep relaxation, as that's what it normally does - and, theoretically, a person could reach this full-blown state easier if they meditate while high - but could modulation of serotonin (or dopamine still, as entactogens alter both) have further boosted this relaxation? (I'm assuming it can't be dopamine as there wasn't any 'reward effect' - this was perfect calmness.)

I think you're trying to look too in-depth for an answer. Your experimentation with cannabis should tell you exactly why it combines so well with other drugs. There is not a disconnect between an experience and it's underlying science.

Thissss. I suppose that is why we mod this place though. <3

And although i cant handle alot of drinking i still smoke weed with it just fine. And when im hung over i HAVE to have weed. But thats because i have just always loved weed personally.

But since modding CD i have read many accounts of people with all kinds of issues with cannabis and there for have to be very careful with when and how they mix their cannabis and other drugs.

I loved smoking weed while tripping on LSD and the two were synergistic. I didn't enjoy smoking herb while on magic mushrooms and it just made the trip very confusing to me.

Smoking weed while on a low dose of opiates like oxy, hydro, or codeine was nice.

When I smoked weed, drank, and used drugs I enjoyed smoking after drinking but I noticed how it would make me not be able to tell how drunk I was or when I'd had too much alcohol and I'd then get very drunk all at once and get sick.

Some people find marijuana by itself to produce profound paranoia and anxiety. It follows that these people would be in more of a hole if they added stimulant(s) to the mix. Then there are some who can hardly hold their mental ground after smoking (though still can), and find adding a stimulant turns the experience very frightening indeed.

mj ruins psychedelic trips for me. I have gotten the feeling of extreme terror, but somehow I've pulled myself out of it with more acid and experience.

Do NOT mix cannabis with psychedelics unless you've had some high-intensity bad trips. MJ just fucks up your mind. FUCKS IT UP
