Has anyone ever taken their blood pressure while on DXM? Because when I took 600 mg and I checked my blood pressure a few times with an at home blood pressure machine because I was feeling so strange, every time it showed that my blood pressure was too high, my heart rate was over 100 and the abnormal heart rhythm detected thing showed up. I've read that DXM is not dangerous by itself which is how I took it so why would that happen? I don't have any heart problems. Is there really a high possibility of dying while on DXM itself?

When I used to use DXM I was extremely healthy and my HR and BP shot up quite a bit but never to any dangerous levels. While I'm not 100% certain I think the probability of death not caused by interactions is fairly slim, especially at 600mg doses. I've been a stoner for 10+ years and have no heart issues and that shit also causes some mild tachycardia for me. I don't think it's anything to worry about unless your approaching near hypertensive crisis readings.

I don't know. It just seems that having such a fast heart rate, high blood pressure and arrhythmia is a recipe for cardiac arrest. I like the effects of dissociatives and I wanna be able to enjoy it without thinking I'm about to die at any second. Is there anyway to reduce this like taking a benzo or something? And the itiching too. DXM is the only dissociative or anything else I can get cause I have no connections to get anything else. I just wish it wouldn't cause such a body load for me :( But my life is so pathetic that maybe it wouldn't be such a tragedy if I did get cardiac arrest

Your last sentence shows that maybe you have some underlying that you should address before using any sort of drugs but I'm not gonna give you a hard time and that's besides the point. Me and you are not the same person so my high BP/HR won't be the same as your high BP/HR so if you feel that your heart is being havily overexerted then please, stop taking DXM. Technically you can take a benzo and that should indeed keep your vitals in check but it will also dull the trip both mentally and physically which DXM already does to me... makes me feel like a dumb robot lol. Not to mention the extreme and dangerous addiction potential of benzodiazapenes.

For the itchiness you could probably halt that off with an antihistamine like DPH/DMH but I'm not sure if what your experiencing is an allergic reaction or just a side-effect that I just don't get because well, I have never had that side-effect. Just know that If your using drugs as an escape from misery your gonna find yourself a hell of alot more miserable a person as you were before getting into drugs in the first place. Anyways yeah, if a drug causes side-effects that have you worried for your health please don't continue taking said drug.

The fact of the matter is that this is a normal side effect of high dose DXM usage. If your heart rate and blood pressure is super high when sober it would be a concern, but on DXM it's normal to have a fast pulse. DXM acts to make levels of serotonin and norepinephrine (selective for NE over serotonin) build up in your body, the latter of which is a cardiac stimulant and raises blood pressure.

It's considered safe to take DXM at the recommended dose level, but not neccesarily safe at high doses for everyone. Especially if you are predisposed to high blood pressure. Regular aerobic exercise could help a lot to reduce the cardiac load, as would taking lower doses.

Benzos aren't going to help too much, in fact they may just make your trips harder to remember. You can take a small amount of antihistamine for the itching though.

You should look into counseling or meditation or some other way to deal with your problems than DXM, if you are concerned about the effects it has on you and feel like you are directionless. You can't run away from yourself forever.

Yes DXM raises your blood pressure but one thing u should actually worry about is what you took for the DXM. say its Coricidin the HBP in the pills is meant to lower your blood pressure, but in high doses it does the opposite. but say your doing delsym which is completely DXM, it is much safer for you than the pills, but dont take it lightly either. dont take too much if your worried about it because but DXM alone can raise your heart rate. just be smart about it and dont take it every day.
